I tried my best to ignore Erick but it was kind of difficult seeing as how he had cut the entire lunch line and the one I had currently been patiently waiting in for six minutes. To say I was a little ticked was an understatement.

Missy kept babbling on while I could only glare at Erick. Cutting in line was frowned upon but he charmed the lunch ladies so they gave him a pass.

“So how were your classes?” Missy inquired.

“They’re okay so far,” I admitted, “but unfortunately I have Pamela in my first period.” I made a face when I said her name that made Missy giggle.

That phrase “speak of the devil and she shall” appear proves to be correct every time. Pamela chose that moment to strut over to the table Missy and I had just sat down at. Unfortunately while making her way over here Pamela happened to slip on a banana peel. That unfortunately was more for her than me because I rather enjoyed watching her fumble. Seeing as how she had heels made the slip even worse. She was too busy waving at Erick’s table that she didn’t notice the bright yellow peel in front of her. When her hot pink heel came back down it was all downhill from there. All her weight went into that step so she fell backwards. Her hands were flailing like a fish out of water. She crashed against the floor and her shorts left nothing to the imagination.

Most of the cafeteria bursted into laughter, myself included, her face turned cherry red and piranha number one and two were quick to pull her up. The only problem? It doesn’t exactly help if the person pulling you up slips on the same peel. Down went Molly and Pamela again. I must admit I was surprised when Flora fell too. Seeing as how she had her arms wrapped tightly around queen itch it shouldn’t have been hard to pull her down with them. The cafeteria just erupted into more laughter.

Now Pamela looked really mad. Her long fingers curled into her palms. She gritted her teeth while she tried to stand up again. Just like my brother to add fuel to the fire. He started throwing crumbs at queen itch and her followers only for his whole table to continue what he started. Erick was high fiving everyone while Pamela walked away in a rage, only she walked too late. Someone with a good arm had thrown a ketchup packet and it had hit her hard enough that the ketchup exploded. It was like a mini spray of red that tainted Pamela’s top. Her eyes seemed to have gone crimson and she wiped off the ketchup but not before the cafeteria laughed even louder.

Three minutes passed and the cafeteria was still buzzed after Pamela’s fall. I’m not going to lie I did indulge in talking about Pamela’s little accident at our table. Right now Missy was scolding me for making fun of her.

“Nina, how can you be so cruel? The girl just got embarrassed in front of a third of the school!” Missy looked down at me with disapproving eyes. I only pouted. I knew Missy didn’t really see eye to eye with Pamela but Missy was a kind soul. It was that which forbade her from making fun of Pamela.

“Look Mother Teresa,” I mocked, “people fall every day. Pamela’s just happened to be more public.”

Dori, who was sitting two seats away, decided to input, “Hell yeah. She’ll probably be the laughing stock of the school tomorrow.”

Missy frowned at her.

“Chill Missy,” I tried to soothe, “by Wednesday everyone is going to forget it even happened.”

Missy calmed down considerably. “Fine,” she lamented, “it was kind of funny but I do feel bad for her and Flora and Molly.”

“I’m sure you do and so do the rest of the kind-hearted souls that go here.” The rest of lunch Missy tried to steer the conversation away from Pamela and her minions falling but the lunch table always reverted back to that topic. Once Missy was fed up she got up and threw away her tray of lunch food. She told me good bye before walking off but I could tell she was still pretty upset at everyone being jerks.
