I woke up early that morning. I had been restless during the night. I kept on dreaming about a life without Ted. My nightmares consisted of me being forever alone. It was safe to say that no amount of concealer would hide my bags.
I showered unhurriedly and after I finished I dried my hair with the towel. I wanted to wear something comfy today. Unfortunately it was a little too warm for me to start wearing a hoodie.
In the end some jeans and a regular band t-shirt did it for me. I did enjoy wearing my comfy sneakers however. When I walked to the dresser I had proved myself right. The little amount of concealer I used, I really couldn't use a lot because my unpracticed hand would unkowingly smear it, barely hid my bags. It did lessen how sleep deprived as I was. I knew that was as good as it was going to get.
When I heard my brother in the next room start moving around I headed downstairs for some breakfast. The kitchen had been cleaned spotless. I checked the living room. There was no evidence that a party had even happened here.
I opened the fridge hunting for some milk to pour into my cereal. I ate it in silence. I finished ten minutes later. Seeing as how i had nothing else to do I washed my dishes. The morning was going by very uneventful. I could only hope school would be like this too.
Erick finally came down the stairs. His head freshly washed and an overpowering smell of axe. I wrinkled my nose in disgust. Obviously Erick wasn't aware of the phrase quality not quantity.
He didn't look at me as he grabbed his keys off the hook. I pulled on my bookbag and followed him out to the car. Once we were in the car he played some soft music.
"Are you feeling ok?" I asked him. Physically he was fine. Emotionally? I wasn't sure. He was definitely acting weird.
"Yeah. Just a little tired considering I had to stay up late cleaning alone," he replied sourly.
I scoffed, "Maybe your 'friends' who trashed the house should have stayed to help you clean up," I retorted. He only gave me a small glare before returning his eyes to the road.
The rest of the ride went on in silence. He was in his own little pity bubble while I tried to nap. Unfortunately the effort was wasted. As soon as we were pulling up to school in our now regular spot people were waiting. When we climbed out of the car everyone was congratulating Erick and thanking him for the awesome party. He seemed to light up. Guess having to clean up his friends' mess was long forgotten. Seeing as how I wasn't concerned with the party or even close to being relative to it I got pushed out of the way.
I shrugged and walked on. As soon as I stepped out from the crowd I wanted to walk right back in. I saw Ted sitting on a bench his body facing Erick's car but his head turned towards Laney. Today she decided to conceal her devil form with a low cut purple shirt and school code breaking shorts. Her hand was provocatively placed on Ted's leg. A burning flash of an unidentified emotion bolted through my system. Taken aback by this I could only dumbly stare at them.
I saw Laney's roaming hand freeze on Ted's leg. He was staring intently at her. She was looking back at him with, what I could only describe as, pure awe. I became puzzled. Laney never looked at someone like that. I didn't even know if she felt like that about people but if she did she kept it well hidden.
The more I watched the more confused I felt. Laney had now scooted away from Ted an arm's lenght. That was very un-Laney like. She actually pulled the front of her shirt up to cover her front. By now I must have been openly gaping.
It seemed as though Ted were talking calmly with Laney and she were a puppy who would do anything he asked.
Before I could stare anymore a slender body crashed into mine.
