Tim screams out in pain, drawing his body into a fetal position as he lay on the hotel bed.
"Shhhh, it's alright. You're safe now." Adam whispers to him as he gently caresses the demon's badly beaten face.
Olena and Kirstie stand by the bed, their hands hovering just inches over the demon's body., scanning the injuries.
"How is he? What are y'all picking up?" Adam looks up at the with frighten eyes when he sees their blank expressions.
"A normal person would die from his injuries. But the injuries are only in his mind." Kirstie says.
"What? I don't understand." Adam says looking back down at his lover.
"Adam, he has a ghostly body. Only other angels or demons can see him. Technically, our bodies don't really exist anymore." Olena says.
"But our minds still exist or we wouldn't be here. He just went through the worst beating of his life. Yes, we can see the results because we see his outer shell. But the pain he is feeling is all in here." Kirstie says pointing to Tim's head. "To him, the pain is real."
"But what do we do? We got to help him." Adam says, kissing Tim's forehead.
"I'm not sure." Olena says. "We will go talk to the angel, Chance. You might say that he's Heaven's counselor or advisor. Maybe he'll know what to do."
"We'll be back." Kirstie smiles, laying a hand on Adam's shoulder.
Adam nods and then looks back down at Tim.
A bright light fills the room as the angels disappear.
"You're gonna be alright, Baby." Adam whispers as he cuddles his demon in his arms.
"It hurts." Tim moans as he clutches to Adam's shirt.
It seemed that hours had passed. Adam comforted Tim the best he could.
Suddenly the room lights up brightly. Three forms walk forward.
Two, Adam knew, Kirstie and Olena. But with them was a male angel. He was dressed in a white robe that seemed to glow. His angelic wings and halo were so divine that Adam looked away in shame. As if he was not worthy of viewing such a vision of holiness.
"Adam, my name is Chance. I'm here to help." The celestial angel says. "Why are you looking away?"
"Because I'm not worthy." Adam whispers.
"Seriously?" The bearded angel asks with a confused look. "I'm not Jesus."
Adam slowly lifts his eyes to the smiling angel.
"Sorry for the dramatic entrance. It's all part of the job." Chance chuckles. "This, you might say, is my business suit."
Adam chuckles lightly as he begins to relax.
"So." Chance says as he eyes Tim. "This is the demon."
"Can you help him?" Adam asks with a pleading look.
"I'll see what I can do." Chance says as he walks over and sits down on the side of the bed. "Can you sit him up?"
Adam pulls Tim up in a sitting position. Tim screams out in pain.
Chance closes his eyes as he lays the palm of his hand on Tim's forehead.
The demon jumps as if he had been shocked with a bolt of electricity.
"He is a lost soul with nowhere to go." Chance speaks. "He's been banished from Hell but didn't lead the kind of life that would allow him into to Heaven."
Adam gives the other two angels a worried look.
"Even though he's been thrown out of Hell, Lucifer still is controlling his mind making him feel the most agonizing pain imaginable. We have to break that hold that Satan has on him." Chance removes his hand and Tim falls limp against Adam.
"You can do that?" Adam asks as he brushes Tim's hair back.
"Of course. Our God is way more powerful than his. We can release him from Satan's hold but he will still be considered a renegade demon." Chance replies.
"How?" Adam asks.
"With this." Chance says as he opens his hand to reveal a small bottle made of gold.
"What is that? Holy water?" Adam asks.
"Not just any holy water." Chance smiles. "Regular holy water wouldn't do him much good. This water was blessed by God, himself."
"So it's kinda like an exorcism?" Olena asks as she and Kirstie watches.
"Yeah, you might say that." Chance shrugs. "Adam, I need you to hold him as still as you can. Girls, I need you to pray."
Adam nods as he wraps his arms tightly around Tim.
Chance dips his finger into the holy water. "Ready?"
The others nod.
Chance quickly draws a cross on the demon's forehead then lays the palm of his hand on the cross.
Tim screams out in pain, throwing his head back against Adam's shoulder.
Chance and the two girls begin to pray.
Tim's screams were soon replaced by growls as he thrust around in Adam's grip.
Adam's heart was breaking to see his boyfriend in so much agony. Tears roll down his face as he too begins to pray.
After several minutes, the growls stopped and Tim fell lifeless in Adam's arms.
The angels stare in shock as the deep cuts and bruises on Tim's body begin to fade.
"Wow." Chance whispers softly. "I think we did it."
Kirstie and Olena giggle and give each other a high-five.
Tim whimpers as he snuggles into his lover's arms. All the injuries were completely gone.
"Tim? Baby, can you hear me?' Adam asks softly.
"Hmm?" Tim hums in response.
"How are you feeling?" Adam asks.
"Like I'm dead." Tim replies in a gravelly voice, due to the screaming and growling.
"That's because you still are." Chance laughs.
Tim slowly opens his eyes when he hears the strange voice. His eyes widen as he sees the three angels.
"HOLY SH*T!! WHERE DID Y'ALL COME FROM?!" Tim screams, sitting up quickly and backing away.
"So is that the thanks we get?" Kirstie says with a smirk.
"Thanks for what? Wait a minute." Tim says as he looks around the room. "What am I doing back in the hotel?"
"We rescued you from Hell." Adam smiles as he takes Tim by the hand.
"Are you God?" Tim asks as he eyes Chance.
"No. Not by a long shot." Chance laughs. "My name is Chance. Even though you are still known in the spirit world as a demon, you are free from Satan's hold."
"Are you sh*ttin' me?" Tim chuckles.
"No." Chance laughs. "We don't do that."
A hush falls over the room as a black mass begins to form at the foot of the bed.
