Louis’s POV

My shoes slowly shuffled against the cool pavement as I shifted in the bench, Eleanor was supposed to meet me here around noon and it was nearly one. If it wasn’t such a nice day out I probably would have told her off once she arrived, but the weather was beautiful. The temperature had slowly been decreasing, right now the temperature was set between the “you may need a coat if you’re heading out today” stage and the “your cheeks will be pink” stage, or in my words, the “perfect” stage.

Today I had gone with a light hoodie to protect me from the breeze and a beanie to protect my ears, but others had dressed as if they would never see the sun again. I would laugh at them, with their think puffer coats and their faux fur lined coats. I honestly had nothing better to do; I had been sitting on this park bench for a little over an hour staring down the park’s inhabitants with their odd dressing habits. Where was she?

“Louis?” A sweet little voice spoke up behind me and an annoyed smirk grew on my face.

“It’s about time?” I joked as I twisted in the bench, but my eyes landed on a pink-puffer jacket girl with wide eyes. “Oh, hello,”

“Oh my God it is you,” the kid whispered almost breathlessly.

“It is me, now who are you?” I felt the urge to just call her pink-puffer jacket and when she hesitated to answer I did. “Alright then, I’m going to call you Pink-Puffer Jacket until you tell me.

“Amy, sorry, my name is Amy.” I began to examine Amy, she seemed about fourteen, had red hair that fell long, wide and excited green eyes, and of course her fat pink jacket.

“Well Amy, are you all alone?” There was always parents lurking behind their star struck child videotaping or photographing, but there was no one.

“No,” I eyed her and she sighed, “yes.”

“Why are you alone?” I had motioned to the seat beside me.

“My parents fight, a lot and I usually just leave until I think they’re done.”

“Amy, don’t you think that’s dangerous?” Concerned, I pet the top of her head.

“Not really, I live right there,” she pointed up the flat building lurking above the park and I smirked, catching blonde hair floating around on a fire escape. “Besides I don’t stay for long, usually just until I see my father come down the steps.” I brought my gaze back to her, “Okay fine, it is very dangerous.”

“Good, now why don’t you run on back home, it’s pretty chilly out. Well you already knew that.” She giggled slightly before nodding.

“Can I ask one thing though?” She dangled her phone before me and I rolled my eyes with a playful smile.

“Of course Amy,” we snapped a few photos on her phone before she scurried off to her flat.

When I turned around to reside back in my seat Eleanor was leaning against a tree.  “You’ve always been good with children,” she chuckled.

“It’s in the job description,” I joked as I escorted her to the bench. “So what’s up? Long time no see.”

Eleanor faintly smiled at me before adjusting her coat, “Nothing much, but I need to speak with you.”

“Than speak Ellie, I’m all ears.” I waggled my ears, something that usually made her giggle with glee, but this time received only the same faint smile she wore before.

“Louis…this is…how do I…” Eleanor began struggling with her words before she grabbed my hands and spoke slowly. “Louis I think we should break up.”

“What why?” I dropped her hands as if they were lava and gawked at her. “Is it my schedule? Is it my feet? The fans? Is it Lotts? You know we’re just friends! Why?”

            “Well, it is your schedule…mostly.”

“Mostly? What do you mean mostly?” I growled unintentionally at her.

“Well I don’t know how to put this, but whenever you were busy I’d go out with friends, well, friend really.” Eleanor awkwardly rubbed her neck.

“Are you telling me you were cheating on me?” I could feel my blood boil and my heart being torn apart with every word she spoke.

“No! No! Not at all! It’s not what you think! He knew I was with you and he respected you! He respected us! He was just a friend who was there when I needed somebody. I couldn’t help growing feelings for him. Especially because you were never there…you were always with her.” El’s voice cracked and her eyes began to water. It was obvious who she was referring to.

“Oh no, you can’t turn this on me. Lotts was there when you weren’t. You were probably with him too. Probably blew me off so you could play with your new boy toy. Am I right? Was he the friend at the café when you ditched me at our park date? Am I right or am I right?”

“You’re right Louis. I’m sorry, but don’t pretend you didn’t go and cheat on me! It’s obvious! There’s such lust and wonder when you look at her. You love her! And I should know because…that’s how you used to look at me!” Eleanor jumped up from her seat, “I’m sorry Louis, I have to go. Goodbye.” She then began jog away, leaving me to wonder if I should be chasing after her, but I was frozen in place. Only once did I move when I fell back onto the bench, where I resided for God knows how long. Then, when I felt ready, I looked up to where Amy pointed earlier and moved.

Every movement a blur, an unconscious blur, but I knew I was where I wanted to be, where I was supposed to be. I knew that when I heard her breathtaking voice when she opened up the door.

            “Hey Louis.”
