I have been alone for as long as I can remember, the only comfort I had in my life was Baseball, but after a certain game in middle school and a dead ball to the elbow, that came to an end as well. I have always been left to wonder around as my parents were never here as they worked overseas. I see Mom and Dad twice a year at max. Now I'm in high school I live in my own apartment not far away from Seido. Even though I may be heartbroken that I can no longer play, it has always been a dream of mine to work along side my mentor.
I met Aniki when he was a third year in high school and I was around the age of 8, he taught me baseball and how to enjoy my days as I would leave the house everyday to get away from my aunt and uncle I had to live with. He was my saviour and brought something into my life I will always hold dear, so I want to join his team to at least say thanks.
Im ready to start my new life and hopefully make memories I can cherish once again.Kyoko Akashi POV
My alarm rang in my ears, making me body toss and turn not wanting to wake up. Sighing, I reached over turning the annoying screeching off, much more forceful then needed.
It was my first day of school, I couldn't deny the fact I was a bit excited to see the things to come, but I was most excited to see Aniki again, as I haven't seen him in at least 4 years. I call Kataoka Tesshin my brother, however we are not related by blood at all. I just see him as the older brother figure in my life which I could always depend on when I was younger.
I got out of bed and headed to bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. Thinking about my classes I sighed, because of the surgery and rehabilitation I had to go through, I got held back a year as I couldn't enter high school well in the hospital. Unlucky me, getting hit by a pitch in the semi-finals at the end of the year.
I finally got my uniform, grabbed my ready packed bag and left my apartment making my way to Seido, which was only around 10 minutes by foot. I planned to arrive an hour early to school to catch up with Aniki and check out the baseball fields and equipment. I was quite excited thinking of it.
Reaching the front gates, I headed to the back of the school, seeing two large fields and many gymnasiums. Woah, what a great atmosphere there is here. I also saw what looked to be apartments right next to it, I can only assume baseball students live in the dorms. Damn I'm kind of jealous.
I paced back and forth not seeing anyone, or any indication of where Aniki could be. Before giving up hope, I heard the faint swing of a bat, and made my way towards it. I peeked my head around the door to see the bullpen and a single guy swinging his bat.
"Excuse me?" I asked, and he immediately stopped swinging and looked at me, now bouncing the metal bat slight off his cleat. "Do you know where the head coach is?" The boys eyebrows raised for a moment and he gave a small smirk.
"Coach is getting ready for his lesson, if you want to see him you have a better chance coming at the end of the day, he will be starting practice at 4:30 sharp since he has met all the first year earlier this morning." The boy replied now leaning the bat over his shoulder.
I just sighed and leaned my head against the bullpen door, I've waited this long, one day can't hurt, I should have came earlier. "Okay thanks." I turned to leave, to be stopped by the male, now at he entrance of the bullpen.
"I can relay a message if you want, I'm a regular on the team, so I have no issues speaking to him like some other other members." He chuckled. His statement made me eye him up and down looking at his stats. I could tell he was a strong player, had strong legs and most like was a lefty. Hm, a Catcher probably.
"No it's fine, I would like to speak to him face to face." With that I left the player and made my way to the first year floor and found my first class. Of course, as I was so early I was the first one there and had to spend at least 20 minutes until another person entered.
I entertained myself on my phone just reading manga until the teacher finally appeared and class had begun. Everyone did there introductions at the front of the class, some people funny and more interesting then others.
It was finally my turn and I made my way to the front of the class, I wasn't really shy, I never have been the type to be afraid of people I'm just reserved and don't really like to make many friends.
"Hello, my name is Kyoko Akashi, I'm not a sociable person, but I won't ignore you if you speak to me. Take care of me please." I nodded my head a little and made my way back to my seat, drowning out all of the other voices. I wasn't focused on any of my classes, I just eyed the baseball field. How I wish I could play, I wish Aniki could have seen how I played clean-up and third baseman. I think he would have been proud. The end of the day finally came, and I was stuck taking papers for my home room teacher. Of course it would be me to do the job first, especially when I had to been at the field.
After finally rushing the papers it was 4:35, I had to run fast. I ran all through the school hallways, passing people hear and there. After making it towards the field I saw around 100 members all lined up, facing towards my direction, looking at their coach. Oh my, I finally get to see Aniki after all this time!
"ANIKI!" I screamed making everyone look at me, and then look around the group. I guess they were wondering which player had a sister like me.
"Please do not scream while I'm speaking." A cold tone pierced my ears, he still hadn't turned around to face me and his posture was still up right.
I just laughed and jumped wrapping my arms around him. Aniki tensed up and quickly looked to see me grabbing on to him, while all the players were whispering to each other.
Coach Kataoka dismissed all the players to go practice, and then hugged me back, all the players still looking at us.
"Kyoko, you've changed so much." Coach replied as began to walk to the dug out.
"So have you Aniki, you sounded super scary when you was scolding me. I bet all the players would be doomed if they did something against your rules." I laughed, now sitting on the bench, watching the players practicing.
"Are you a first year? I was expecting to see you last year but since I never heard from you I thought you had moved overseas or chose to attend a different school." He asked, and I just sighed and shook my head.
"I got hit by a dead ball towards the end of middle school, and after all the expensive treatment and rehab my parents paid for, it was too late to enrol in any high school, so now I'm a year behind."
"Can you still play?"
I know I shouldn't, but I just want to show him once. The fruits of my training, the motivation he gave me. Just once and I'll be happy.
"Of course, well not dangerously, but my batting skills are still top notch." I laughed and I saw Aniki just give a smile.
"So you will be joining the team?"
"What like a manager?" I asked, even if I was fully healed, who I even be able to play on a team like Seido?
"Well, I won't allow you to push yourself to hard, but if you still love baseball as much as you did back then, then I would recommend you to be in charge of certain players to help them hone their skills."
I let out a laugh. "I guess I have to call you coach from now on. Tell me my first role as Seido's assistant!" I clenched my fist and raised my arm, being a bit to over dramatic.
"First get changed into a uniform and go check out the first string players, it would be good to get a grasp of the main team first and who everyone is, if you want to practice with any of them, be my guest. Also, I'll allow it because it's you, if you want to boss them around, don't hold back." Coach whispered the last bit and stood up making his way onto the field, commanding people in different ways.
I really like your team, Coach.
I smirked and grabbed a new uniform from the storage room and headed to the toilets to change. Placing my uniform in my bag, and placed it on the bench in the dug out. I walked over to the second field and saw the first string and second string practicing drills and base runs. One person stood at the plate and constantly hit balls to the outer fields making people dive and jump to catch them.
I could tell some of the players were outstanding, giving off an aura the others didn't. Batting against this guys would be interesting.
"Oh hi again, nice uniform." A familiar voice approached me, it was that guy from earlier. "But why is a manager wearing a uniform?" Ah, this guy has pissed me off already.
"Why do you assume I'm a manager?" I asked coldly, looking at his face. He was hesitant to answer and then just smirked again.
"You're interesting, I like you." He said wrapping his arm around my neck. "I'm Miyuki Kazuya, nice to meet you."
"I didn't ask." I hit his hand off and then stood in front of him. "Don't you think you should be getting back to practice, Mr first string Catcher?"
"Oh so you know who I am?" He teased, trying to get a reaction.
"No clue, I can just tell. No get back to practice, after all I am in charge of the first strings practices now." I now smirked and walked away from Miyuki Kazuya, eyeing the rest of the players from far away.
I will definitely get my one chance to show 'Coach' my efforts, even if that means having to be careful using my arm for the rest of my life. While my thoughts were clouded thinking about proving myself, I hadn't even noticed the boy still looking at me, while that condescending smirk across his lips.
This meeting was a mistake, if I had knew what were to happen, I never would have gotten involved with Miyuki Kazuya in the first place.I have some good ideas for this story, just gotta be motivated to write c: Miyuki is new husband so had to write a story about him
