Death lies on her, like an untimely frost - W. Shakespeare

Michael

Michael’s now powerful wings flew him straight towards the Great Hall of Judgement. It was a great building that had been used to condemn Lucifer and destroy his stone seat amongst the angels. As he led the way, the other angels in the Gloria followed, questioning their neighbours as to why the almighty archangel would go there first.

To say that Michael was angry was the biggest understatement. Raphael knew very well that his brother was ready to murder someone; his stone silence was the obvious indication. When he reached the front of the great hall where his seat was, Michael waited until everyone was inside. He knew very well who he wanted to murder but he wanted it to be a public execution. He wanted the others to know not to mess with him or his mate. He wanted everyone to know that Seraphina was HIS mate.

He made Seraphina sit in his high seat; she was still shaking from her close brush with death. From his peripheral view, he knew his brothers hovered on the side, still confused as to where Michael was going with this. He knew what he was doing…he just needed the spy to show himself.

Suddenly, Moses pushed forward from the crowd, followed by his guards with dark wings. He landed in front of Seraphina and grabbed her hands.

“My love”, Moses said breathlessly. “Oh, my love…I thought I lost you.”

Moses held Seraphina’s face in both in hands; using his thumbs to trace out her lips. He then leaned his forehead against hers and closed his eyes to say a silent prayer.

What a wonderful actor, Michael thought maliciously. He can play lover and traitor at the same time. How very much like Judas!

Oblivious to Michael’s anger and glare, Seraphina smiled slightly and whispered to her fiancée, “I’m fine, my love. Nothing to fear.”

“Actually, he has every reason to be in fear”, Michael commented in his powerful voice, which was loud enough for the whole hall to hear. A dead silence followed where not a single angel dare breathed.

“Michael-” Raphael interrupted but Michael put up a hand to stop him further.

“My lord”, Moses replied. “I don’t understand your accusation.”

“He is jealous, that’s what he is”, Juno pushed forward. Then he looked towards Raphael for help. “You are the High Lord…can you not tame your brother?”

Ignoring Juno now, Michael walked calmly towards Moses, who had stood up to level his glare with Michael’s.

“Where were you, Moses?” Michael asked coldly. “Is it common for the groom to arrive after the bride at the church?”

“I was late”, Moses replied. “Then we were invade…I had to take charge of my men.” Moses dared to stand straighter and taller under Michael’s heavy glare with a look of disbelief and anger.

“So you didn’t open the gates for Lucifer then?” Michael asked with false interest. The accusation left Moses’ speechless and red as the crowd then turned to focus on the angel.

“Michael, why would you think that nonsense?” Seraphina spoke up and stood up to defend her fiancée. “You have no proof!”

“That gate cannot be opened by none other than an insider”, Michael stated loudly. “I know…I made that gate.” Then he looked at Seraphina squarely and said, “I don’t need proof…I know exactly who it is.”

“Then we have a spy…an insider”, Moses said as if it was obvious.

“Yes…that’s what I thought too”, Michael said while he stroked his beard in mock interest. “But who would dare when Lucifer waited outside?” No one answered or more appropriately, no one knew the answer.
