Saturday.

"How about a bake sale? We can put up a stand at the school's carnival..?"

I'm currently at my volleyball team meeting, we are currently thinking about how to raise money to go to a volley tournament and for new cute uniforms. And I recommended a bake sale because who doesn't love sweets.

"And we can call it sweet sales! Like an alliteration," I added on.

"I actually love the idea!" my coach says. "We can get some of the team to help bake and the other half to sell and pass around the word," she states and I mentally high five myself for the great idea.

"Lupe, I need you to be in charge of both parties," my eyes grow a little wide since she wants me to lead both groups, but I nod my head anyway, not wanting to say anything and not wanting her to take back the idea.

-

We were currently at my house getting everything ready for the bake sale, I had asked my mom in advance and she agreed as long as I left something for her and cleaned everything up.

"I need you 2 on frostings and you 3 on batters," I pointed to some of the girls from my teams and showed them their stations where they'll be working. "I will come around and give you the recipes that we'll be working on and also help and of course supervise. I will also be working on the decorations and the actual baking process and taking them out when they're done."

I passed out the recipes and encouraged them to work. I got outside to the back yard and monitor the next group who are currently making posters, labels for desserts and banners for our stand.

"That looks great, Gaby," I smile and continue walking around. "Kimi, add some glitter to it, make it pop. We want people to be attracted to the stand," she nods and I smile at her. Smiling and being kind is key to being a good leader, if one is a bitch then no one is going to want to listen and they'll just give up.

I go back inside my house and to the dinning room to check on the batters for the pastries. My kitchen is kinda small so the girls were preparing everything in my dinning room. I grabbed a tasting spoon and tasted the chocolate batter, "that's great, Amber," I high fived her and told her to start putting them in cupcake pans. I go around tasting all the bother batters, 15 in total. We were making different types of pastries, 11 types of cupcakes, 3 types of cookies and a brownie batter with 3 different toppings. I made a few comments like adding more of the toppings in the brownie or adding more of a coloring to the cupcakes since I wanted some of them to be colorful.

"Chavela, can you come help me?" I carry cupcake pans and take them to the kitchen, "can you grab those trays and bring them over here." I start putting the tray in the oven and also the trays she brought. I closed the oven and put a timer on. "Thanks," I smile at her.

"I really hope this works," I lean against the wall.

"It will, this was a great idea and as long as we have you as a leader, everything will be perfect," she looks at me with hope. I mumble a thanks as we get back to working and finish up all the desserts.

-

"Sweet sales! Come and get your sweet sweets!" I raise my voice as I try getting attention from people walking around the school carnival. "Help my volleyball team go to a tournament!"

I was working the stand for the most part, I had the girls walk around the carnival with posters and try to get people to come our way and other girls helping me at the stand and other taking a break.

"What do you have?" I look at the boy in front of me, I smiled and pointed at all the flavors.

"We have 11 cupcakes, red velvet, chocolate fudge, funfetti, carrot cake, salted caramel, strawberry shortcake, lemon tart, chocolate peanut butter, pumpkin spice, a churro one, oh and a vanilla with a oreo cheesecake center. Then we have 3 types of cookies which are chocolate chip, peanut butter and sugar cookies. Lastly we have brownies with 3 different toppings, chocolate chip, M&Ms and walnuts." I happily point to each one of everything, proud of myself that I can list them all.

"Wow, that's quite a variety, I was at other stands and they only have red velvet, chocolate and vanilla," he chuckles and god was the sound so beautiful. I happily shrug as a heat rises to my cheeks, proud of my ideas and that someone, a boy in particular, acknowledged that.

"There you are, Cal! We have been looking all over for you," my eyes widen a little as I see the breadstick from the mall.

"Hey, Luke," the cute boy says.

"Oh, hey, I know you! You were the child that was trying to decide on food by saying eeny meeny miny mo," Luke points at me, I just nod, not really caring about answering him.

"So, do you see anything that you would like?" I turn my attention back to the cute boy.

"Oh yeah, can I get 3 salted caramel, 2 chocolate peanut butter, 4 red velvet- Luke do you want anything?" he cuts himself off and looks at his friend meanwhile I'm writing down the order.

"Some brownies and chocolate chips are good, let me ask the rest of the guys," Luke turns around and jogs over to 2 other guys as the Cal asks for me to give them a second and I nod saying it's fine.

The lanky boy comes back and gives me the order, I write everything down and gave the order to Chavela while I charge them, "can you get this order ready, Isabell, while I ring them up?" She just nods and grabs the order and boxes and putting the pastries in them.

"Okay so, 5 salted caramel would be $7.50, plus 3 choco pb is $3.75, then 6 red velvet.. $6, 3 strawberry shortcake is $3.60, and 8 brownies; 2 M&M, 4 chocolate chip and 2 walnut is $4, then 6 churro cakes is 10.8, also 3 vanilla with oreo cheesecake is $6.30, lastly 3 of each cookie would be $9. In total, it's $50.95."

"Did you do that math mentally..?" Luke seems surprised because I didn't have a calculator or even scratch paper, I nodded and smiled to myself.

"That's crazy," Cal whispers to himself as he hands over the money.

"Not really, simple math," I smile a little more as I give him the change along with the boxes of pastries that Chavela put next to me. He smiles back and puts the change in the tip jar.

"Thank you so much, you didn't have to, after all, you bought the most pastries than anyone else," I give a cheesy smile for his gratitude.

"It's okay, thank you for the delicious treats, my friend Micheal said he bought from you guys earlier and fell in love with your salted caramel so I had to try for myself." He smiles brightly to me, ugh, that smile brought warmth to my whole body, I smile back, bringing my head down a little so he wouldn't see my cheeks heating up.

"By the way, I say eeny meeny miny mo when I also need to decide," with that the sweet boy left, met up with his other friends and walked away until I lost them in the crowd.

A/N: Chapter 3!!!! How you like them apples!?! I actually love baking with a passion. I think about opening a bakery one day. What do you guys see yourself doing?
