A/N HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! I love you all sooo much so here's an update. Hope you all have an amazing Christmas, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, then have a great day anyways :D
“So,” The Doctor started after moments of silence. “I love staying in here talking to you, but we really do need to find a way out.” I was nodding before he even finished. I loved talking to him too, but even I wanted to get out of here.
“What’s that?” I asked, motioning to the strange contraption he was tossing around in his hands. He stopped, looking down at the device.
“Oh, this is my sonic screwdriver.” He responded. I stared blankly at him, waiting for an explanation. He looked back up at me and raised his eyebrows.
“And… you have no idea what that is, right?” I nodded and he sighed. “A sonic screwdriver is a screw driver that’s sonic.” I rolled my eyes.
“That doesn’t explain anything, idiot.” I replied. He grabbed his chest, a look of fake hurt on his face. Before he could sass his way out of it, I asked again.
“So what is it?”
“It’s basically a screw driver, except it’s much easier to use and it does a lot of other things too.” I threw my hands up in the air in frustration.
“What kinds of things?” I asked, trying not to shout. He shrugged, sending me a serious calm down look. I had to resist the urge to smack him, again.
“I don’t know, it scans stuff for me, it helps with medicine sometimes, but mostly I use it for picking locks.” I sat up suddenly, my eyes widening.
“Locks? Picking locks? Why don’t you just use it on this door?” I asked, pointing out the obvious. He rolled his eyes and sighed.
“It doesn’t do wood.” He mumbled. I shook my head, confusion clouding my mind. Why couldn’t he just give me a straight answer?
“What the hell?” I asked. He sighed again and stood up, walking over to the door. With much exaggeration, he pointed to the lock.
“The cyber men know about me. They know what I can do. So, they put wooden locks instead of steel ones.” I stood up, joy flowing through me.
“That’s fantastic! The idiots left a flimsy wooden lock on our door.” I thought this was great news, but he seemed confused by my excitement.
“Well how does that help us? We’re still locked in,” he grumbled. I rolled my eyes at him, trying not to laugh. For a supposed ‘man’, he was really clueless.
“Have you ever thought of breaking the lock?” I asked, raising my voice at the end to make it sound obvious. It was obvious to me, but judging by the blank look on his face, that never occurred to him.
Of course, he would never admit that. “Ah, right, of course. That’s exactly what I was thinking. Perfect.” He tried to sound cool, but I could easily see through his façade. Anyone could.
“Well then, great and wise alien man, go ahead. Impress me.” I said with a smirk towards him, crossing my arms over my chest. He nodded, then looked around the cell awkwardly for a minute.
“Well…” I trailed off, looking at him expectedly. He nodded again and flashed a smile, but still made no move to do anything. Finally, after a minute or two, I decided to do it instead.
“Move.” I mumbled, shoving him out of the way. Without hesitation, I picked up the chair that sat near the cot, something that The Doctor obviously ignored, and shoved it against the lock. It budged a bit, but didn’t do much.
After a few tries, though, the lock snapped in half and the door flew open. I placed the chair down lightly and wiped my brow, sending him a knowing smirk.
“Well, come along then.” I said, marching out the cell. I continued down the hallways confidently without looking back. I knew without a glance that he followed me, his head a bit lower than before.
