A/N Hey, many of you already know, but I'm currently writing  a new Sherlock fanfiction, and since this is a Doctor Who one, I figured many of the readers watch Sherlock. If you haven't already, I'd really appreciate it if you checked it out and voted. Thanks :)

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. I even felt it hard to think. Beside me, I felt The Doctor tense like a taut wire.

“If you think for one second that I’ll let you touch a single hair on her head, then you’re mistaken. I am The Doctor and you can’t take her away from me.” My heart fluttered at his words, but I was too nervous to think much on what he was saying.

They wanted my brain. My brain. Even through the fear, I couldn’t help feeling proud. The cyber men thought I was intelligent enough to lead their army. Sure, they wanted my brain stuffed inside some metal contraption, but at least they thought I was smart.

“She will be assimilated. Her tests say that she is complete now. We will take her for assimilation. She will be the commander.” I took a step back in fear. Before, when facing the cyber men, I allowed myself to be brave because I was too confused to care. Now, when I knew exactly what they wanted from me, I was a coward.

“No, you’re wrong. She may be smart, but she isn’t your commander. I won’t allow it.” The Doctor told the lone cyber man with a determined gleam in his eyes. My heart softened at the strength in his voice. He really did want to protect me. Why he felt so strongly, I’m not sure, but he did.

The cyber man took a step forward, then another, until it was directly in front of me with one arm extended.

“The female will be assimilated. The female will be assimilated.” I closed my eyes in fear, seeing no point in running. I had just felt its cold hand wrap around my wrist when it exploded in a ball of sparks.

My head flew to the side to avoid the raining specks of fire, and in the corner of my eyes, I saw him.

He stood, hunched over, with his arms out in front of him. In his hands was the sonic screwdriver that I’d just recently learned about. Its green light shone into my eyes and reflected in his, casting an eerie glow in the darkness. His eyes, with that tiny green light shining in their surface, were murderous.

In that moment, as I stared into that light in his eyes, and the deadness and loneliness and fear I saw in them, I realized how real he was. This wasn’t an illusion. I wasn’t at home sleeping in my bed. This man was real, and he was dangerous.

And he just saved my life. Again.

His eyes softened the second the sparks fell, and the moment was broken. I felt numb by this realization. Sure, I’d believed his mad tale from the moment I stepped into Rio, but it didn’t seem real until now; not until I truly saw how powerful this man was. He scared me.

“Violet, are you alright?” He asked warmly. I shook my head, my breaths short in shock and fear. He walked over to me quickly and inspected my state. He checked my eyes first, then my body. I had a few burns, but nothing major.

He grabbed my wrist lightly and started to pull me away from the wreckage, but I was held back. Still clutching my arm was the hand of the cyber man that held me moments ago. I closed my eyes, unable to look at it.

I heard the sound of The Doctor’s screwdriver, and the arm fell from my hand and clattered to the floor.

“It’s okay. It’s all right now. It’s gone. You’re safe.” He reached up to touch my face, but I flinched. His eyes darkened, but he said nothing. Instead, he stepped back and waited for me to recover on my own. I felt bad for rejecting him, but the image of the anger in his eyes when he killed the cyber man was stuck in the back of my mind, and I couldn’t help it.

“H-How are we going to get out of here?” I asked after several minutes of silence. He still seemed sad over what I did, but he snapped out of it the second he had something else to think about.

“Well, we’re underground, obviously, in some sort of ship. The only entrance I know about is the one we fell in, but that’s too steep to climb up. So, since all the other cyber men are sleeping and we seem to be in the main control room, I’d say we should just push this.” He said, pressing a big green button. The entire room shuddered, and I lost balance. My head bumped harshly against the steel floor, and the world spun.

The entire ship started propelling upwards. It was terrifying. My head hurt like a thousand knives were spontaneously stabbing into my skull. It wasn’t a concussion, I assumed, but it sure did hurt.

The heaving eventually stopped and the ship was silent. There were no windows, so I couldn’t see the sunlight until the door started to open. Like the classic UFOs from the shitty movies, the door opened from below our feet and formed a ramp to the ground.

The Doctor jumped up excitedly and prepared to go, but I was still lying in the rubble, shocked, cold, dirty and in pain. He almost didn’t notice that I wasn’t following him. When he did, he seemed shocked.

“Oi, you coming Violet?” He asked. I wanted to respond, but a spiking headache shot through my skull the second I tried to open my mouth.

“Violet?” He asked again, concerned this time. When I still didn’t move, he hopped over the wreckage and scooped me up into his arms. He was surprisingly strong, stronger than I’d first believed.

I cuddled against him as he ran from the ship and into the TARDIS with me in his arms. I gave up on the struggle to keep my eyes open when he stepped out of Rio and into his mad little box.

A/N AHHHHHHH Did she die???? You better read to find out. Anything is possible… ;)
