A/N One word. Intense. Good luck my friends.

Doctor’s P.O.V.

The gun was inches from my head, yet I didn’t flinch. This was how the prophecy had to end. There was no escaping fate, not even for me. Not this time.

If this was to be my fate, I had no choice but to accept it. Normally in these situations, I wouldn’t have much to fear. I could regenerate easily, despite how much I hated it. A shot to the head, however, would be the end. No hesitation, no time to regenerate.

Behind me, I could hear Callum and Jeremy shouting, struggling to find a way over to me. I wasn’t paying much attention to them, however. My eyes were locked on her hazel ones, searching for any sign of life.

There was none. She was gone. On the outside, she was the same.  The curves of her face, the flecks of green in her eyes, each tiny feature was as it had once been. Her expression, however, was gone.

And it was my fault. If I had left her alone, if I hadn’t come back for her, she would have been fine. She would have lived. Now, she was worse than dead. She was one of them and it hurt more than simple words could describe.

After observing all of this, however, I noticed something I had not noticed before.

She was hesitating. Cyber men didn’t hesitate. They were swift and efficient and without remorse. This was a sign. There was still hope.

“Violet, Violet listen to me. You have to fight it. You have to-,” I broke of as she locked the gun. Still, I didn’t flinch. I couldn’t, because if she was truly inside there, she couldn’t bear to see me afraid of her.

“You can fight this, Violet.” I said. “Take control of yourself. If anyone can it’s you, you stubborn, hardheaded girl. Fight it.”

Something flickered in her lifeless eyes, a spark of something that wasn’t cyber. She blinked once, twice, then her finger twitched on the trigger. I let out a breath slowly as I watched parts of her come back to life.

The cyber men didn’t seem to understand what was happening. She still had time, though it was unclear how long she would be able to hold control.

My mind tore through possible solutions, but none of them were desirable. The only option that could result in the world’s survival was for Violet to shut down the machine controlling her. There was only one way to do that, and it was one I couldn’t accept.

I saw it in Violet’s eyes the moment she realized what I was thinking. My heart dropped as an expression of acceptance settled on her face. She was accepting a fate that I couldn’t.

“What are you waiting for?” The General’s voice echoed in my ears as Violet forced a small smile onto her face. I knew what that smile meant. It was a hopeless smile, one you sent to people when you knew there was no other way.

Everything seemed eerily calm in that moment. The screams and shouts and clang of metal faded into the background as Violet used every ounce of self-control she had to turn the gun on herself.

The sound of a gunshot broke the silence as Violet collapsed to the floor.
