It's the madness that I'm talking about

"Liana!" I hear a familiar voice call out for me from the extreme corner of the canteen.
I turn around, my lips pursed together, and find Hailey's tall figure waving frantically for me to notice her.

I wave back, matching my steps with the imbecile crowd of students gathered around me.

The tray of all the junk lunch is clasped between my hands and I'm trying so hard to not drop it on someone's poor head.

As I reach Hailey, I realize there are five more people surrounding her. Some are sitting on the round table, some are standing and talking and a guy has his arm wrapped around her waist. He's talking to someone over the phone.

"Hey!" I say, looking at her gratefully. She saved me from all the chaotic mess that my life was about to become.
"Hello! Who's this lovely lady, Hailey?" A guy asks, walking up to stand in front of me.
"Oh, well. This is Liana. My new friend." Hailey says, abandoning her boyfriend's muscular arms and leaning over to hug me.

Why does she have to be so tall??

"You mean, our new friend." The guy smirks. "I'm Nick. Pleased to meet you." He extends his hand and I shake it.
Ah, the bad boy.

"Liana Matthias Hall." I say, smiling.
"Beautiful. Come along then." I nod and place my tray on the table.

"Guys, this is Liana. Liana, this is Adam – my boyfriend," she kisses the guy beside her and I make a face. Why do I end up befriending people who love public display of affection?

"Hey, I'm Adam." I shake his hand.
"Liana."

"And you already met Nick. The one with the glasses is Jonah and the girl sitting beside him is Janice."
"Stop referring to me as the guy with the glasses. Don't forget Elliot's got the personality of a nerd, not me." The guy with the glasses – Jonah – exclaims.

"And you've got the personality of a fucking player." Some other guy says, with a scowl on his face.
"That'll be Elliot. And where's Cath?" Hailey asks, looking around.
"Don't worry. She isn't doing anything illegal. Had some errands to run with her brother." Nick says, popping in some nacho chips.
"Right. Come on, Liana. Sit down." The girl with caramel brown hair – Janice – says.
I nod and take a seat.

To say that the first few minutes were awkward would be a terrific understatement.
I tried so hard to blend in with these people, but it wasn't that easy.
They were too jubilant, except for the guy called Elliot.

Hailey was right. He rarely ever spoke up. His one hand was busy with flipping the pages of his course book and the other was helping some food into his mouth, which was shut for most of the time.

"So, you both are twins?" I ask, still not believing the fact.
Jonah looks up at me and smirks.

"Is it so hard to believe?" He asks.
"Well, to be honest, yes it is." This catches Elliot's attention and he stares at me.

"How?"

Well, bingo! I got to hear the husky yet adorable voice of Elliot the great! Standing ovation, everybody!

"Um.. your personalities are completely different." I state. Elliot narrows his eyes at me, trying to intimidate me but failing hopelessly.

"What do you mean?" I try not to laugh in his face. That would a terrible start.

"Cool down, mister dark pants. That's my point of view. No offense, though." The whole table erupts into fits of laughter.

"I like her." Nick says and gives me a side hug.
I look at these people weirdly. I mean, it's the madness that I'm talking about.

"What made you all laugh so much?" I ask, still perplexed.
"Liana, you've managed to make fun of our buddy Elliot without any efforts. No one's ever done that." Janice says, laughing.

Oh.

I dare to look at Elliot, who's glaring at me but looks so innocent.

"Don't give me that glare, boy. You look like a constipated patient." That sentence is out of my mouth before I can filter it.
I slap my mouth shut and look away, going totally red in the face.

Fuck, I've poured the gasoline allover me and handed over the lighter to Elliot. How thick can I be?

They start laughing once again and I feel so bad for poor Elliot. He never must've faced this humiliation. I know I've angered him to a whole new level.

I look up and find him staring at me... but is it amusement I see in those eyes?

"You've got your way with the words. I suggest you should start filtering your thoughts before you fall into my bad list." Elliot says.

Honestly, if you ask me, he's a charmer. He has tons of dimples and chocolatey brown eyes. If he'd not let the fake asshole aura radiate from him, he can be a keeper.

"I like to keep my thoughts, not filter them. That's what a coward does and I'm not one." I say, staring deeper into those gorgeous eyes.

His right eye brow shoots up and there is total silence around me, except for the constant chatter in the canteen.

"Coward, you say? Interesting." He smirks! He fucking smirks! He has the calibre to smirk! I knew he's trying to build a cocoon around him. Deep inside, I know he's just like any other guy...

"I'm glad you found my words interesting." Well, some things can never change.

The day's over!
Yipeeee!!!!

I stuff all my books inside my bag and head out of the beautifully built heaven.
The day was entertaining. Nick and I have two classes together, which is amazing because he is like a hilarious clown who knows how to make me laugh at silly things. Further, I have one common class with Janice and Jonah, whom I call the double J. Surprisingly, I have music class with Elliot, and he didn't like the fact that I found him playing a keyboard.
I have no class with Adam and I still don't know who Cath is. That'll be a mystery for a while, I guess.

I stand outside and wait for dad to pick me up. I wonder where my pathetic excuse of a sister is...
I dial Hazel's number. She picks up on the third ring.

"Sister!" I frown.
"Why are you so chirpy?"
"Well, why can't I be? Have you seen this school, Liana? It's heaven. Pure bliss!"
"Yeah yeah. And..?"
"And I've seen you and I'm about to jump on your back!"
"What are you –" something excruciatingly heavy drops on my back and I'm jolted forward.

"Holy mother of fucking life, what the hell Hazel?!" I shout and shove her on the side, earning ten stares from the people around me.

Hazel laughs her butt off and I just throw daggers at her with my blazing glare.

"Won't help, miss goodie-two-shoes." I jump at the sound of a hoarse male voice, filled with sexiness.
I turn around to find Elliot staring at me.

Uh huh.

"Excuse you." I mutter and pick up my books that had managed to fall down due to the lovely impact of my sister's heavy weight.

"Wow. Elegant." He chimes.
"Glad to know." I say and stand up straight.
"Amusing."
"What is amusing?"
"You."
"Uh huh. Tell me something I don't know."
"Um, okay." He takes a step way too closer for my liking and leans down towards my face. "You face..." he begins. I raise an eye brow. "Resembles a pig."

My jaw drops. Totally.

"Oh yeah? I don't even have a chubby face with a nose of radius ten centimeters." I blurt out.
"Nose of radius ten centimeters?" He threatens to show his dimpled smile and I internally swoon.

"Go away! I've got stuff to handle!" I push him and walk away, not forgetting to rewind the heavenly sound of his laughter which echoes in eternity.
