Heather drops me off at my place and I pull her along with me.
"Hey, what the hell?! I've got to go!" She complains as soon as I ring the doorbell.
"Why? Are you getting late for some extremely hot date?" I glare at her, knowing that she can do nothing about it.
So she eventually shuts up.
The door opens and I almost faint. What is going on with this world today? Why the hell is everyone so keen to give me a solid heart attack?
Ray Mitchell smirks at me, his stormy grey eyes locked with mine and I can feel Heather swooning right on the spot. I throw daggers at him with my vicious glare.
"Hey, gorgeous." He says in his most seductive voice and I swear Heather just squeaked. "How are you this morning?"
Is it the fact that Ray Mitchell is inside my house or he's completely ignoring my best friend that makes me go wild with anger?
Maybe both. Coz I can't quite put my finger on the right point.
"I was doing pretty well." I say. "Until the doom hit me hard across my chest and here I am, talking to a bear, that now looks like a gutter pig."
"Hey! Stop calling me that!" He complains.
"Then get out of my way!" I push him aside and Heather mutters a quiet apology. That's when he acknowledges her.
That bastard.
"And you must be Heather Winston." He shakes hands with her and I turn around, just to pull Heather away from that skunk.
"Stop being so rude to him. Can't you see how amazing he is?" Heather hisses and I stop in my track, causing her to run into me.
Turning around, I place my hand on her cheek to check if she's high with fever.
"Hey, shortie! You can't ignore me forever, you know? I'm right here." The devil shouts after me and a question hits my brain.
I turn over the balls of my heels and face him.
"Speaking of which, what the hell are you doing inside my house?!" I blast out, which causes my dad's bedroom door to fly open.
"Hey, girl! I'm trying to go through an urgent business call. Could we stop yelling at the top of our lungs, for Christ's sake?" Dad says, totally annoyed.
"Yeah. Sorry, dad." He rolls his eyes and gets back inside his hole of a room.
I narrow my eyes at Ray and curse under my breath. He looks amused.
"So, you've taken the next step, huh?" He says, leaning against the kitchen counter.
What is he doing in my kitchen?!!
I stomp my feet and get hold of the collar of his shirt, pulling him along with me like some kindergarten teacher.
I so want to ignore his piggy laughter right now. Where is Heather, by the way? Maybe stuck around some silly corner, shamelessly checking out Ray Mitchell.
I drag him up the stairs so that we are a fair distance away from my dad and his business calls.
It so happens that if and when Ray and I are under the same roof, I can't stop myself from testing my vocal cords.
So, here we are.
Heather keeps on snickering in the background and it takes all of my strength to not shove her into a very checking-out-Ray-Mitchell corner of her own.
I open the door to my bedroom and shut it close.
"Hey, shortie. Isn't dragging me into your bedroom too mainstream?" He says, his tone etched with amusement.
