Conversations and realisations

It's Saturday, and for a change I don't have any sort of home assignment this time. It feels so amazing to not go on scribbling on a sheet of paper just to get a perfect A.

I lie on my bed, my lazy ass screaming at me for not pulling up the duvet. I grab my phone from the bedside table and find a missed call from dad.

I sigh and dial his number. You can't stay mad at a dad like him for long, right?
He picks up on the fourth ring.

"Hey, Miss Ignorance! How did you manage to ring me today?" He says and I roll my eyes.

"Well, I thought you were pretty miserable without me, so decided to cut down my ego just a little bit."

"Beautiful. How is my girl?"

"Right now? She's planning a revenge against you."

"A revenge? What did I do to enrage the princess?"

"You left me to my doom and ran away saving your life."

"Liana. You know it by heart that it was important for you to let your mother clear the air."

"How will she clear the air if she's polluted herself?"

"You can't speak such stuff about someone who is older than you. Did I teach you that?" His voice screams anger and disappointment, and honestly, I have stopped caring now.

"You taught me to go against the people who take wrong decisions. I'm doing that."

"I taught you to help people correct their mistakes; help them to take right decisions. Not go against them."

I didn't say anything. Partly because I knew he was right and partly because I was tired of him taking Myra's side even after what she subjected him to.

"Look, Liana. I know you are not a fan of your mother. But, she still gave birth to you. Her leaving us doesn't change the truth. And if she wants to give an explanation, she has the right to get her chance. You have to learn how to cooperate, Liana. Because of your rigid behavior, Hazel is getting stuck in the middle."

"How does this even connect with Hazel, dad?" I ask, annoyed to every bone in my body.

"Think practically, Liana. Hazel is younger than you and doesn't see the world through your eyes. When Myra left, she was a kid. She didn't care less because she didn't know what was happening around her. And now, when she's got a chance to meet up with her mother, she thinks she is doing the wrong thing because you perceive this whole situation differently. She looks up to you, Liana. She follows your lead and if you don't do the same thing she wants to do, she starts doubting her decisions. Do you want your sister to be the one getting swiped off her desires? Think about it. Sometimes it isn't just about you."

I sigh. I really didn't realise how I was taking away Hazel's right from her by acting like a bitch around Myra. All this time, I've been a selfish moron. I didn't even try to ask Hazel if she felt the same about Myra. I just assumed that she hated her too.

God, I'm such a self absorbed, reckless and mean bitch.

"I'm sorry." I finally announce, because I love my sister too much to let her suffer.

"You are?" I can sense him grinning.

"If you are grinning right now, I swear I'll take my words back and fly back to you the first thing in the morning."

"Honey, you can't do that. I stole your passport and it is here safe with me."

"You stole my passport?!" I shriek, not believing to what extent my dad can go.
