I ring the doorbell.

It was hard not to, because I know who will be standing there behind the doors and waiting for me.

Well, I hope so.

After the little prep talk Cath gave me last night, I was ready to put forward my feelings for Liana. She told me that it was then her job to accept or reject it. And hopefully, she'd accept it.

I chose to wear a white button down shirt and black blazer over my black trousers. I did nothing to my hair because Liana likes them untouched.

Yes, I'm smitten. I don't care. That girl has made sure that I look like some lovesick little singer. I still don't care.

And here I am, waiting for someone to open the door.

And when it opens, it isn't Liana who welcomes me.

It's my sister, Cath. Tada!

"Hello, brother dearest! So, you finally decided to take a shower?" She asks, winking at me.

"Shut up, Cath. I shower twice a day."

"Aww, okay. Come on in."

"I think there's a certain someone in there who has to come out.."

"I know. And there's a certain someone in there who wants to meet you."

Oh damn. Why didn't I think about this earlier?

"Well, okay then."

I follow Cath like a kid and say absolutely nothing. Why didn't I prepare myself for the parents' talk? Liana is a girl. She obviously won't be allowed to go on a dinner date without a full guy-scan by her parents.

But, Myra knows me. This means the person who wants to meet me is Liana's dad. I hope he's a good man.

And from what she's told me, Liana bonds really well with her dad.

So, a headkick.

I find Myra and a tall man sitting in the living room and debating over something. Cath walks in confidently and I follow her.

"Gabriel! So good to see you, honey!" Myra stands up to give me a hug as soon as she sees me walk in.

"Hello, Myra. It's good to see you too."

"And this is Liana's father, Justin. Justin? Meet Gabriel Stone."

"So, he's the guy Lia's so crazy about?" He pulls forward his hand and I shake it.

Liana's crazy for me?! Oh well.

"I'm Justin. And don't worry, I'm not one of those fathers who ask irrelevant questions to their daughter's date." He chuckles and I already like this man.

"Great seeing you, sir."

"Justin. Simple as that. I don't know how you two ended up meeting each other, but sure as hell, it's like Liana's on the eleventh cloud already. I'll show you a picture of her bedroom back in her old home, and you'll know what I'm talking about. Hold on."

We sit down on the elegant sofas and Justin starts browsing through his phone.

"You look great, Gabe." Myra pats on my shoulder.

"Thank you. So do you."

"Ah, with the sweet talking. So, where will you take my daughter? The girl can't stop smiling."

Wow. I find myself smiling.

"Uh, not much. Just a birthday dinner from a friend." I say.

"Aww, that's romantic. I hope you guys have fun together."
