Broken Paradise

We sin like devils and love like angels,

And we are mindless like cannibalistic animals,

The money we yearn for grants us power,

That we viciously proceed to devour.

The stakes are high but we still gamble with our life on the line,

Beneath our feet are waiting land mines,

Ready to blow us sky high at any second,

Nowhere near the ground but closer than heaven.

We choose to exist in this broken paradise,

Where we fantasize about becoming immortalized,

Reality is uninteresting and displeasing to the eyes,

Some of us pretend that we want to live when we truly want to die.

I have lost all my faith in humanity,

My mind is suffering from severe insanity,

Lock the doors because outside there is a war,

There are bodies piling up on the streets and at my door.

The best minds of this generation were murdered by madness,

Their intelligence was ripped away by everlasting sadness,

Earth's beautiful landscapes are truly deceiving,

Ordinary minds would not know of the ugly truth it is concealing.

Runaway while you can still escape,

Do not let the guilt become physical in shape,

Paranoia will plague your mind every second of every day,

You will never again trust the people you loved who have gone astray.

I fired the bullets into my hallow head,

The blood splatters on the walls as I drop dead,

The dead heartache is radiating in my broken bones,

The fallen angels have ascended to the throne.
