The heartbeats kept me alive,
I found it almost impossible to survive,
There were times when I was left to decay,
Heaven nor hell wanted me so I chose to stay.
Misery has its claws dug deep in my skin,
Though I know misery cannot win,
The cuts and burns have faded away,
But there are still more beasts to slay.
The hole in my heart has been sewn shut,
But the blood still escapes from beneath the cut,
I slipped and fell down into the abyss,
The sound of silence was pure bliss.
I was still falling when I was found,
A week later I started to come around,
I was completely devoid of emotion,
My heart had suffered a nearly fatal explosion.
I tried to sink myself in murky water,
I didn't want to think about it any longer,
All the fish had abandoned these seas,
Like how people make empty promises and then tend to leave.
I am trying to catch the thieves,
Who stole all my hopes and dreams,
I know that they won't get away,
They will pay for the mess they've made.
My heart is surrounded by a mighty fortress,
Constantly attacked by those who are heartless,
I have endured pain right from the start,
I am now stuck with a hallow heart.
