Chapter 3: Development

Killian's P.O.V:

Arriving home, I help Molly get into her ballet recital outfit, a fluffy red dress and a cute little headband with a bow on it. I'm so proud of her. The only reason her dress isn't pink like everyone else's is because she is the main dancer in her group. This is her first recital, and I can tell she's nervous. I drive her to the studio, Ms. Donna's school of Dance, and wait for the recital to start. 

"Molly, darling, you are going to do amazing. Stop worrying," I tell her when I notice she is fidgeting.

But daddy what if I mess up? Everybody will laugh at me. Could Emma come watch me?

"Well there isn't much tome for her to get here my love. But you won't mess up, I know you won't. You have been practicing for so long! Here, let me show you something." I pull a string from around my neck, on it hangs a ring. "Do you know what this is?"

Daddy it's a ring, she signs with a giggle.

"Aye, that it is. But it's a special ring. This ring used to be mummy's. She gave it to me before she... went away. I want you to have it. It will be your good luck charm. Open your hand my love." She puts her hand out in front of me and I place it on her little palm, curling her fingers over it. "Better, love?"

Yes daddy. Thank you. She puts it around her neck and smiles.

"Of course, love. Now go dance your heart out." She grins and runs off to join the rest of the students. I pull out my phone, ready to videotape. 3:10 pm. Only ten more minutes till my daughter gets to shine.

E- Hey, I know it's none of my business, but how is Molly doing? She was talking- well signing- to me about her recital today, just wanted to check in on her before it starts, Emma texts.

K- She's doing just fine, love, thanks for asking :) 

I snap a photo of her with the rest of the kids and send it to Emma.

E- Aw, she looks so cute in her dress. Is she headlining?

K- Aye, that she is. I'm so proud of her.

E- Well be sure to show me the video when I drop off Henry. I'd love to see how she dances. Wait a sec... is that- oh my gosh! That's Ms. Donna's school of Dance isn't it!

K- Aye love, how did you know?

E- I used to go there as a kid! My orphanage instructor used to take all the girls.

K- Orphanage instructor?

E- I'll tell you some other time. It's not important. Anyways, I used to go there. Henry and I live just around the block from there!

K- You should come watch Molly! It would make her so happy. She was just asking me if you could come watch her.

E- Really?! Oh, well sure! I'd love to! If I bring Henry, if you're okay with that of course, You could probably just take him with you when it's all over, and then I'll go home.

K- We can talk when you get here. But hurry, it's about to start!

E- Okay, see you in a few!

I smile to myself, knowing how happy Molly will be that Emma and Henry are coming. And it doesn't hurt that it will give me  a chance to see Emma. I pull out my emergency cologne bottle, yes I have one of those, and dab on a tiny bit. Hopefully it won't be too obvious to Emma.
