Killian's P.O.V:
Those days where a warm summer breeze drifted through an open window could hardly be topped. When you were just a young lass or lad and you'd be making breakfast with mum. A smell of hearty oatmeal would waft up your nose, lingering and tickling your senses.
That's what it smells like when I open my eyes. Mum's oatmeal. Fond memories of growing up here surface in my mind as I rub sleep out of my eyes. I reach over to the side, expecting my hand to caress my lovely wife, but instead, I'm met with bedsheets.
I look over, and she isn't there. Just an imprint of her body left on the mattress and pillow.
The stairs creak as I make my way downstairs. There she stands in all her glorious beauty, stirring a pot of oatmeal.
"Good morning, sweetheart," I say softly in her ear, wrapping my arms around her waist and pressing soft little kisses to her neck.
"Morning," Emma smiles, turning her head to kiss my cheek. She rests her head back n my chest, letting out a content sigh. "Your mum gave me her recipe for oatmeal. She said it's your favorite. How come I never knew that?" Emma asks with a radiant smile.
I grin at the sound of her voice. I love that mine and my family's accent has rubbed off on her a bit. She says 'mum' now.
"Not sure, darling. I suppose it just never came up," I answer, nuzzling my nose against hers.
Emma lets out a little giggle, then leans up to kiss my lips.
"We should video-call with the family," Emma suggests, refocusing on the pot.
"Sure, love. We can call after we eat," I reply, leaving a kiss in her hair before I help out a bit.
I grab some bowls for the oatmeal and set them beside Emma, then cut up some of the fruit I bought yesterday and set it on the table. The sun shines through the windows in the kitchen, lighting up the room. I can smell the blooming flowers just outside as a light breeze drifts in. I can't think of why I didn't come back here sooner.
Emma and I sit down for a lovely breakfast, making small-talk over romantic ideas for the day. I reach over the table and bring Emma's hand into mine, caressing it softly. She smiles, her eyes twinkling with happiness, and I never want to forget the expression on her face.
Once we've finished and cleaned up, I lead Emma to the living room where we cuddle up on the couch and call the family.
"Hello you two!" Mum's cheery voice comes when she answers. Her smiling face graces the screen as the rest of the family gathers around.
"Hey Mum," I smile. Emma snuggles up closer to see the screen better and gives a little wave.
"Emmy, Killy!!" Andrew exclaims, running into view with Regina close behind.
"Andrew, how many times do I have to tell you not to run in the house! " Regina scolds. "Liam, tell him to- Oh, hi guys! How are you?" She asks, catching Andrew and bringing him into her lap.
