Gray- this means the person is frustrated and feels pressure

"Hey Dan, uhh I was thinking. I think you should maybe go home for a little bit. I know you and your mom got in a fight and all, but it is your mom." Kyle said, his words quiet and kind.

"I don't want to see that bitch." I snapped, sipping on the soda in front of me.

I could tell he was uncomfortable by the way he kept twisting in his chair. It was like he couldn't keep himself still.

"Dan I know you're mad, but don't call her that. Plus it's almost been two weeks, and you haven't gone to school since. The teachers keep asking me about you. I hear them talking about getting the police involved. Come on." He pleaded, giving me a pleading look. His brown eyes were locked on me, making me look down to my drink.

"I'll go to talk to Suzanne." I chuckled, watching as his smile widened.

"It's only because of you though." I smiled, taking his hand from across the table. His thin mood ring slowly changed from a dark, stone gray to a light blue.

"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school?" He asked.

"Ugh yeah."

As I pulled up closer to my house, I noticed several cars parked out front of the house. Immediately I recognized the black and white cars that belonged to the police.

Reluctantly I parked my motorcycle, and walked up to the door. Everything seemed just off. Something was wrong, and I just couldn't figure out what.

"Um mom it's me." I said, lightly knocking on the door. Suddenly the door swung open, a burly officer standing in front of me.

"Daniel!" My mother shouted, running towards me with open arms. Her cheeks were tear stained and her face was free of any makeup. She looked tired, really fucking exhausted.
"Yeah." I mumbled, tensing up as she began crying into my arm.

"What's wrong?" I asked her, watching as she began crying harder into my shoulder. Her whole body was shaking and trembling.

Normally I would have teased her, but instead I wrapped my arms tighter around her.

"It's you father. He was arrested last night. He's not coming back." She sobbed, the officers around us looking at us awkwardly.

"Can you like leave?" I snapped at the men just standing around in the house. It was obvious they had already done all their business.

"Now!" I shouted, trying to sooth her shaking.
"What are we going to do?" She cried her body still shaking.

"Shh, it's okay. I'll take care of us. Don't worry." I sighed, knowing exactly what I would have to do next.
