"And you..." he said, a grin spread wide across his face, his teeth too white for his face. "Sit right there. On your knees, little girl!" he laughed, setting his spiked bat on his shoulder.

You could feel the color drain from your face as it became difficult to swallow and harder to breathe. With shaking hands that balled into fists, you bent down, the gravel rocks digging into your knees.

The night was dark, the atmosphere biting your skin and nipping your nose. Everything was all too familiar to you, reminding you of the night Glenn and Abraham died. Although this night was entirely different.

Rick had refused to give the supplies, causing Negan to arrive with a large number of his men, all yielding the guns you had all given them. It had been a frightening time when he came unannounced. Just a few days earlier, Rick had been rounding all of the Alexandrian citizens, planning to attack Negan's group that had caused everyone so much pain.

You looked up at the black sky, wondering when everything will be over. Rick laid unconscious on the ground a few feet away, blood spilling from his ears and nose, his body barely moving with each slow breath. You remembered the look of terror that crossed over Rick once that bat hit his side, and then the side of his head, his entire body being beaten, but not enough to kill him. Just enough for him to suffer.

Carl had been tense the entire time, and you couldn't help but steal glances at him. You were incredibly worried about him, but you couldn't do anything about it. You wanted to tell him that everything would be okay, to shield him away from the situation. Even if it was possible, neither of you were talking to each other, for you had messed up your friendship a week prior.

You loved Carl, but you always knew that he wasn't very good with allowing himself to love anyone. It was a giant risk to tell him how you felt, but you just couldn't stand looking at him and feeling that ache in your heart. When you had told him, he basically freaked out, cutting off all contact with you and ignoring you completely. You didn't know if it would have been better to keep your feelings to yourself just a bit longer. Now, all you longed for was Carl back. Your best friend.

Negan looked around at everyone surround you. The looks on their faces a sight you will never forget, a scene that will haunt your dreams for nights to come. "Well isn't this just a shit day for you all," Negan announced, swinging his bat as if it were a rope. "Especially Rick. Wouldn't wanna be him." he laughed. You couldn't bring yourself to turn and look at him circling around you. You could feel how hard your heart was beating in your chest, but you almost didn't notice. Every time his bat came within range of you, you held back a wince.

He crouched down in front of you after a couple moments, forcing you to look him in his eyes. His eyes were a dark brown, something that would be black in the afterlife. "What's your name, little girl?" he asked, flipping a chunk of hair behind your shoulder.

You kept your mouth shut, looking over to Carl who had his jaw clenched, but his hands relaxed. You wanted him to meet your gaze, but he was staring at the grey rocks beneath his feet. You wanted to try and speak to him, but you realized that would only leave to trouble.

"What in God's damn name are you looking at?" he asked, following your gaze that you quickly cut off. What did I do? You thought. "Oh," he said. "Oh!"

You stared up above the houses, past everyone that stared at you with worry. With fear.

Negan got up and very slowly made his way over to Carl, using his bat like a cane to lean himself on once he got there. "You were looking at Mr. Lover Boy over here." He grinned cheekily. "And if I'm right, and I usually am, your daddy is passed out on the damn ground, ain't he?"
