"Hello, Mr. Howell-Lester." The man on the other line said. I replied, "Yes." "Hello, this is Allan Johnson the principal of S.T.A.R.S. elementary. I'm calling about your daughter, Alexander Katherine." he said. I stiffened asking, "What about her?" That caught Phil's attention and he walked over to me. I motioned for him to be silent as I placed the phone on speaker. "Are you aware she has been skipping classes?" Allan asked. What? "Uh.. No." I said. Allan replied, "It's been going on for almost a month. However, today Alexander was found unconscious just outside a park with a razor blade in her hand that had drying blood on it." "Is she okay?!" I asked immediately. Allan said, "She's at the children's trauma hospital down the road from the school." "Do you know what could have lead her to this?" I asked. Allan said, "no." and hung up. he totally knows. Why isn't he telling us? we are Alex's parents. Phil and I got up and headed to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital we were led to Alexander Katherine's room. She had many tubes and machines hooked up to her. "She is going to be fine. When we found her she had just passed out." a police officer said. I gave him a weak smile as Phil said, "Thank you officer." 

I should have seen the signs. I should have known. I could have prevented this. It's all my fault. If I only noticed what was going on, I could have helped her get out of that funk she was stuck in.
