"The heart of a father is a masterpiece of nature."
- Abbé Prévost, "Manon Lescaust"

Viktor watched as his two year old twins, Ioann and Esfir, slept. The little boy slept in a blue painted, skating themed room on his left, while Esfir slept in a pink painted, princess themed room on his right.

His wife was worrying herself in the living room.

How are we going to provide for ourselves? How will the twins take it? Will Viktor remember to call every night?

Was what went through [Name] Nikiforov's head. She often worried about when Viktor went to go train Yuuri.

He only took about two months off during the summer each year to be with her and the twins. And it was August 31st. During his first year training Viktor, she gave birth to the twins.

By the time the twins were 10 months old, he had come home. They were born in September, right when Skating started for Yuuri.

Viktor was distraught due to the fact that he missed the birth and a lot of mile stones in the first year of their lives. He decided to take off two months a year, July and August, to see them.

But, when he came home, and they were 20 months old, they didn't recognize him, at least in person.

They cried when he held them, and wailed when they saw him kiss "Mama". They weren't even calling him, "Papa" yet.

However, this time, when he came home, they warmed up to him quicker, "Papa?" Esfir had cautiously asked. She looked like him. Almost a female version. She had remembered him!

"Mama!!!!!" Ioann had screamed, running towards his mother. He looked like Viktor, but with [Name]'s eyes.

After reassurance that Viktor was, indeed, the man he had been talking to over the phone, or through FaceTime, he sniffed, and gave him a hug.

But in the present, [Name] was crying.

Viktor will admit, he never knew what to do when someone cried in front of him. So, he sat beside her, and hugged her.

"What's wrong, lyubov moya?" [1] he asked, pecking her cheek.

"Y-you're leaving tomorrow! Why can't you stay? Or let us go with you?" She asked.

He knew he caused this pain. He also knew that she was supportive of him, but miserable without him.

"We will... Work something out, [Name]. Why don't we move to Japan?" He asked.

"You mean it?" She looked at him, apprehensively.

"Of course! We can sell this place, redo the twins rooms, and live happily!" Viktor smiled.

"But, tomorrow..."

"I'll go tomorrow. You guys come after." Viktor replied.

So, the next day, he gave a kiss to both of his twins, who cried harder than ever, and set out.

Viktor himself cried on the plane ride over.
