[Name] and Seung-gil had been dating since she interviewed him for a sports section in the magazine she worked for. Based out of London, they rarely got to see each other. As it was Christmas time, [Name] thought he'd be spending the year in Korea again.

Apparently, it was spent much like it was celebrated in London. Lots of festive lights, giving of presents, and spending time with family, just to name a few things.

This year, though, Seung-gil had decided to spend it with her.

She was ecstatic, over the moon. He really wanted to spend it with her! She felt so happy, and it was still a month away!

But then... Her mother would be furious! She'd never been away from them on Christmas... They always cooked for the entire family together.

"[Name], when you have a boy you're serious with, I want him to meet us for Christmas." Her mother said to her at age 6.

"Boys have cooties!!!" She had exclaimed back.

[Name] didn't understand why she had forgotten that. If Seung-gil has cooties, I want them... She thought, laughing to herself, while looking through her contacts for her father's number. She found it and pressed call.

It rang and rang until he finally picked up, "Hello? [Name]?"

"Hi, Daddy. Um... I'm... I won't be coming home for Christmas. My boyfriend has decided to visit..."

"Well, that's fine by me, but what about your mother? She'll be devastated. And so will [Brother's name]. He'll be forced into the kitchen, and we all know that son of mine can't be trusted to boil water." He laughed.

She knew her father would be okay with it. But she knew her mother would be devastated. She was the only girl her mother had. All her cousins were boys - on both sides and she only had one sibling. "Try to keep her calm? One less mouth to feed? I dunno, Dad. Mum'll be fine."

"Alright. If you say so, [Name]. We love you, call us when you can."

And the call went dead.

But [Name] remained undeterred by her mother's disappointment. She got dressed, and walked out in the cold London air to get a tree. She had a small smart car, and a tree from the shopping center that was pre-lit would do.

Upon arriving, she found a small, white tree. It was perfect - the box should fit in the back of her car.

She packed it in, but she didn't have any ornaments... She was a bit disappointed now. It looked pretty bare, but she didn't have the money for any decorations if she wanted to give him a gift.

She looked up traditional gifts in Korea, and typically they just have one, but a lot of thought went into it. Something handmade, then? She should've gotten ornaments...

It was now one week until he arrived, and she's worked on this for the past two weeks. She was almost done. He'd be here the day before Christmas Eve, so she should have plenty of time.
