"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."
- Norman Vincent Peale

Guang-hong Ji had never celebrated Christmas before. [1] So when [Name] invited him to [Home Country] to celebrate Christmas with her family, he was a little shocked. He hadn't a clue on how to celebrate it. He'd heard the carols, and he'd heard about Santa Claus. But how exactly did they celebrate??

He felt awkward on the way to the Airport nearest to her. Everyone was talking about what they were doing for Christmas. It would be dark when he got to her town. Maybe he'd see the lights he's always heard [Name] go on about? He honestly didn't know... In all his 17 years, [Name] was the first to ever want him with her to celebrate anything. She was always inviting him to spend holidays with her. This was the first he'd been able to.

His flight landed, and upon entering the terminal, his senses were bombarded with the smell of cinnamon and the colors red and green. The smell got stronger the farther into the terminal he entered and the red ribbons were spun through long strings of evergreen garland. There were fake presents littered around the sides of the terminal, as well for atmosphere.

I'm here. Meet me by baggage claim?

He text [Name] quickly.

Withing seconds he got his response.

Dad said to meet us by the Christmas Tree near baggage. You can't miss it.

Was her response.

As he approached the baggage claim area, he could see the tree. And he could vaguely make out her silhouette in the short distance. He was so excited to see her.

He quickly picked up his green luggage, and ran over to her. She hugged him, and pecked his lips, "Guang-Hong!!!" She exclaimed, "You have no clue how long the wait seemed!!"

Her father laughed, "Nice to see you, son."

He was thankful that her parents approved of him. He didn't expect it, since - according to [Name] - they always wanted her to date, "good [ethnicity] boys". So, it was a nice surprise that they called him things like "Son" (although from his understanding, many men referred to boys as son) and referred to him as "[Name]'s wonderful boyfriend" (and not in a sarcastic way).

"C'mon! We're going to listen to Christmas Carols and drive around a bit first!" She took his hand, and gently took him through the airport.

People smiled at them, and one woman came up to them, "You two are so cute! May you be blessed this Christmas!" She smiled, and walked to her family.

[Name] blushed, and snuggled closer to him as they sat down, waiting for her father to bring the car around.

Once in the car, Guang-Hong was shocked, old sounding Christmas music played as they drove down the scenic route to her house. It may have been a big time difference, and he may have been on a plane for many hours, but he couldn't help but be excited. He was with the girl he loved looking at Christmas lights and - what [Name]'s father explained - nativity scenes. They were all so beautiful.

Snow was gently falling on an already snow covered ground, and he was on cloud nine.

[Name] looked at him as they drove through the back roads. He was so handsome. He was like a child seeing all of this for the first time (which she supposed it was new to him). She loved him so much, though neither had admitted it yet. She was content watching him as I'll be Home for Christmas by Bing Crosby played over the radio.
