New Beginnings

Chapter 55

I grab her hand and pull her downstairs.
Everyone is sitting, talking and eating. I see Zay and Zach eyeballing each other. I smile. I pull Meryl to the counter and clear my throat. Everyone stops talking and looks at Meryl and I.
"Tell them or I will."
"Tell us what?" Julie says feeding Raine in the highchair.
"Jess I don't wanna ruin a good morning." I give a bad look and she sighs.
"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?" Jasmine says.
"Meryl fucking say it or I'm gonna and it isn't my place to."
"I-I-I have breast cancer and have 9 months till my expiration date." She starts crying and I hug her and she wraps her arms around me. Everyone's jaws are dropped. They're speechless.
"Just kidding!" Meryl says and laughs and I punch her in the face and Danny pulls me away.
"That's not something you fucking joke about you stupid bitch!" I say fighting against Danny.
"Time to take the babies upstairs!" Julie says and her and Cadence grab all the babies and go. I get loose and jump on her attacking her. Swinging left and right. Meryl punches me in the hip and get on top of me.
"Look who's in control." She laughs. I punch her off me.
"Look for a second there I thought we could be friends and I could deal with you, but get out! Just fucking get out." Dylan stands up.
"You shouldn't talk to Meryl like that!" I clench my jaw. I punch him in the jaw. Danny pushes me aside and punches him to the ground. I grab Danny by the collar and bring him to me so I can kiss him. Dylan helps Meryl up and they go upstairs.

Danny and I are sitting on the couch and cuddling.  Meryl and Dylan left earlier. Danny looks at my hands and gasps.
"What?"
"Your hands!"
I laugh. "They've looked worse."
"When?"
"When I took you and Meryl down."
He laughs and kisses me.
"Mrs. Huston, you know you have a hell of a shot."
"Do I?"
"Yes, my face looked horrible for weeks and it hurt."  I laugh.
"I learned my lesson, Don't mess with momma Lange!" I laugh and kiss him.
"Mom!" Cadence screams. That's my call.
I get up and walk in there. Zay's screaming and Zach is too. I grab Zay and rock and bounce him. I go to the kitchen and grab him a bottle and walk back. She can't console the baby. I trade her babies and rock and bounce Zach. He won't calm down so I start to sing to him and hum to him. He calms down and starts to fall asleep. Cadence gasps.
"How'd you do that?"
"Magic." I laugh and set him in the bassinet. I take Zay and walk to the living room and sit down beside Danny. I grab the burp rag and burp him. He spits up. Danny laughs and I wipe up my shoulder off.
