Chapter 14 - Promises

My heart started beating quickly as I worried for one of my best friends. Kat. Sometimes I wished she was never friends with me because if anything were to happen to her related to the gang, I would never be able to forgive myself. I grabbed my phone and called her phone hoping she would answer. I heard buzzing and knew her phone was in my room. A small light shone from under the bed, I bent down and stretched my hand out to grab the light. Turns out this light was not a light but a phone. Why was her phone under the bed? What if she was hiding there? Why would she be hiding? Endless possibilities ran trough my head. I had to find her. She could be anywhere. O.k. Amber calm down. Think. I have to tell Dad. I walked to his room, knocking on the door before entering. Huh. Dad was not here either. His bed was made and untouched. The curtains wide open and everything looked in place. He must be out I told myself. Dad is not here so next in line is Matt. I need to tell Matt. I walked over to his room, hoping his one night stand was not staying over. I knocked on his door waiting for a reply. Nope, nothing

“Matt” I called out quietly

still no reply, I cautiously opened the door. The lights were off and the curtains closed making it nearly impossible to see. I could briefly make out Matt's outline on the bed. Thank God he was not naked. I tip toed over to him and grimaced when I was close enough. His one night stand was over. She wasn't important right now. Even tough the back of her head did look quite familiar. I had to find Kat.

“Matt” I called out

“hmmm”

since talking to him was not working, I settled on poking him until he was wide awake

“gwo awai, i'mn scleipng” came his muffled reply

“what?” I questioned

he lifted his head up so his face was no longed planted in his pillow

“I said, go away, I'm sleeping” he sated clearly this time and face planted his head back into the pillow

“Matt I do not care if you are sleeping. Kat is gone” I bellowed trying to gain his attention

Matt sat up in his bed, resting against the headboard.

“Why are you so calm. She could be dead” I shouted worry clear in my voice.

This caused the girl in bed with Matt to stir. She stretched her arms above her head and yawned. She turned around in her sleep and placed her head on Matt's lap, using it as a pillow. Her hands wrapped around his waist. Matt only smiled and looked down at her and his smile became bigger. Her hair fell down her face. Like a shield to stop the world from seeing her. There was something familiar about this girl. I just couldn't pin point it. Strange.

“I think Kat will be fine, believe me” Matt said while looking down at the girl resting on his lap.

“Matt if her stirring in your lap is turning you on, I suggest you get any disturbing thoughts out of your head and help me find Kat” I said in monotone

“O.K. lets sort some things out. Kat is fine” he said

“and I'm not getting any thoughts or hard on's from her” he said quietly but quickly obviously proving he was lying.

“sure, now help me find KAT” I shouted her name, hoping his brain would register what I was trying to say.

“can you guys please shut the hell up. I have school tomorrow” the girl on Matt's lap croaked, while lifting her head up. Giving me a full view of her features. How could she? I knew who she was

“Kat” I whispered. Not believing what I was seeing. She vowed not to sleep with Matt what ever happened. Sure she wasn't a virgin but she promised herself.

“oh,hey Amber, how was your date with Jase?” she asked casually

“umm...it was good” I replied.

“so did you guys kiss?” she asked unfazed

“no, we didn't” Kat was obviously not in the right state. She was sleeping with Matt and was talking strictly girl stuff in front of my protective brother. I glanced at Matt and heard him sigh. He lay back down and wrapped his arms around Kat's waist and rested his chin on her head.

“too bad, well good night” Kat replied

I took this as my Que to leave. I walked out the room but not without taking one more glance at them. Still surprised at the scene in front of me. Kat moved back into Matt and they tangled their leg together. They could pass of as boyfriend and girlfriend. This was so strange. My mind was not registering what was happening. Oh my god. Matt was getting turned on by my best friend. Erghh. He was having mental images about her. That is so disturbing. I will defiantly be talking to Kat about this tomorrow. Now it was time to sleep. Yes, sleep so I could clear my head. Lovely sleep.

Sorry this is short but I have a lot on my mind lately. The next chapter will be longer and hopefully more interesting.
