To be merely mediocre?
All your creation is subpar,
All your work turns out to normality.
The feeling of being lesser
As you watch your friends exceed.
Being good at nothing,
While others are good at everything.
You try everything,
But never succeed.
You jump hobbies like hopscotch,
But you only erase the lines as you shuffle between squares.
You're told you do so well,
But only by people who play it on repeat.
Broken records,
Lifelessly telling you what you're not,
To keep your mind at rest;
To make you feel special.
You ask strangers,
And they tell the cold, hard wall of a truth.
But you ask those whose opinions matter,
And only receive a cushion of loving lies.
