At this point, Troy had enough. The constant bickering and sarcastic remarks between him and Aiko drove him crazy. Sure, there were good times. Down times between the pointless sassiness they couldn't help but display to each other. Troy loved Aiko, that much was true, but no matter what, he could never love the fights.
They happened to have just finished one of these arguments, but it didn't end in the usual makeout session Troy and Aiko had become accustomed to. No, this time Troy left the room, combing his hand through his hair and growling quietly to himself. A headache amplified all the sounds of their apartment, the hallway screaming with footsteps and conversation and doors crashing shut as if people meant to slam them. It felt as though the world was working together to collectively drive Troy insane. He sat down on his bed, hiding his head in his palms and trying to block out the world.
Aiko sat on the couch, watching the door Troy left through. It was his fault. He'd never mention it out loud, but it always felt like his fault. Even when Troy would hold him close and deny the fact, trying to make everything better with gentle kisses and purrs of "I love you". But those didn't happen this time. Nor did anything else other than Troy storming out, seething in annoyance after their sarcastic interaction. He felt on the edge of crying, his face warming and the edges of his eyes dampening. He wouldn't do it. No crying. Nothing pitiful. He didn't care. Aiko pulled out his book and tried to pick up with reading to distract himself.
Aiko and Troy sat in separated silence, hidden from each other by a thin, sad excuse for a wall. Five minutes turned to ten, then fifteen and twenty. The apartment's silence began to echo in Aiko's ears as he stared at the same sentence he had been on since he started reading. He had gone over it what felt like a million times, his brain feeling like a song on repeat as he went over and over the words and tried to take them in. 'Their hands twined and their eyes drifted to the stars as the smooth grass swayed gently with the breeze'. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. He couldn't stand it anymore. Aiko set his bookmark between the white pages as he closed it, standing and setting it on the coffee table. He made his way to Troy's door and opened it carefully to see Troy hunched over on the edge of his bed. Creeping in silently, Aiko sat down next to Troy, who twitched at the sudden presence of someone else on the bed, but didn't look up. They sat next to each other. Silent. Thinking. Then Troy sighed quietly and spoke up, "I'm sorry for storming out."
Aiko tried not to show his resent towards Troy taking blame, still feeling like this was his fault.
"It's.. fine.. I went too far. You had a bad day already-"
"No, no," Troy rushed, cutting Aiko off, "I should be used to these by now."
Aiko lowered his head, "Troy, it's my fault.."
"no, it's not," Troy stated, trying to sound convincing. They both became suddenly aware of their sneering, stopping and falling into silence. Troy didn't let the silence linger very long, though, breaking it with a nervous, "Do... You still love me..?"
The question itself startled Aiko, "Of course I do..!" he replied quickly, his voice spiking to the point of almost cracking in fear.
Once again, a blanket of silence covered the room. Neither knew what to say. They both knew they had gone too far this time. Both accustomed to it, but not as much as they had believed theirselves to be.
Eventually, words found their way to Troy's mouth, "Maybe.. we should take a break. A day or two without bickering and sarcastic remarks... to calm down.."
The idea caused Aiko to tense. A break? Like from each other? Seeing his pause, Troy clarified that it wasn't a break from seeing each other, just a break from "being dickwads to each other for funsies." The wording made Aiko chuckle, Troy flashing him a slightly nervous half-smile.
"I guess we can try," Aiko replied, his small smile turning into a smirk playing its way across his face "But, on one condition~"
"Condition?" Troy responded, puzzled by the need for conditions for a stalemate in the game of sarcasm. Aiko's smirk widened and he leaned into Troy sensually as he simply said, "Eat your goddamn food."

Bonus:
Troy: Oh fuck's sake Aiko-
Aiko: Eat.
Troy: nO
Aiko: Then no stalemate.
Troy: ....... Fucking..
Aiko: Hmmm?
Troy: Fine. Whatever.
Aiko: Was that sass I heard?
Troy: I swear to--- I'll bite you.
Aiko: Good, that'll be eating.
Troy: ... ... .....
Aiko: *smile*
Troy: Fuckyou *bites his neck*
