We live in a society where it's normal to have bridges
Bridges over rivers and ditches to get us where we need to go
Bridges to our hearts
To our minds
Bridges with barriers and crossroads and gates
Bridges to jump off of
Bridges to climb up
Bridges to follow people to
"If they told you to jump off a bridge, would you?"
Love is a bridge
Friendship is a bridge
We climb and walk and skydive off the bridges every single day of our lives even if we never step foot on a real one
When people tell you to think of a bridge
The first one that comes to mind is probably a real bridge
A physical bridge
Over a river, maybe in the country
Maybe in a forest
A bridge that carries cars or people
But you never think of the bridge that brings our train of thought from one station to the next
No one ever considers that bridge you were to told to jump off of
Or that bridge your parents said your friends would drag you down
Some think the Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge in which so many people decided to take the thought seriously
"If your 'friends' told you to jump off a bridge, would you?"
Too many people would.
Too many people do.
We live in a society where it's normal to build bridges
But as we construct more and more
It only means it's increasingly easy to jump.---
