The sounds of running footsteps rang across the hospital hallway as Dong Wook rushed to the hospital ward where his 'kids' were. As soon as the news reached his ears, Dong Wook had bolted from his office and drove so fast that he himself thought he was a racer, not a policeman. The moment he opened the door, he saw the girl one out of the two kids was huddled up against the hospital bed, trying to escape the grasp of the helping doctors.
"No!! No more! Please, get away from me!"
The girl struggled with all her might as she threw her arms around herself in an attempt to protect herself from the now helpless doctors. A nurse tried to approach her sweetly but the girl shouted as she thrashed around the bed.
"Darn.. What have those maniacs do to this girl?? She's only fourteen years old for god's sake."
"Mister Choi, could you please help us?? She'll reopened her wounds if she keeps thrashing around like that."
Looking at the doctors' helpless expression, Dong Wook nodded than slowly approached the now crying girl.
"Minzy??"
The girl looked up as Dong Wook called her name. Her eyes were already red from her crying and her bandages turned into a reddish-pink as her wounds reopened.
"It's okey. You're fine now. The police have shut down that place. You're in a hospital with good people now. Don't cry, okey??"
Dong Wook flashed a smile as he patted the girl's hair. The action caused her to flinch but than she relaxed.
"You...you sure??"
"Yes. No one will hurt you here."
Dong Wook gestured for the doctors to leave qiuetly. A nurse left a first-aid-kit in the room which Dong Wook gratefully smiled and thanked for it.
"Minzy. Gong Minzy, right??"
The teenage girl noddded as she sniffed. Dong Wook took a small cloth and wiped the girl's puffy eyes and smiled at her. Looking at her bandages, Dong Wook than rummaged through the first-aid-kit for a pair of scissors, bandages and a bottle of ointment.
"Minzy, I am Lieutenant Choi Dong Wook, a senior officer of Seoul Police Department. I will be your caretaker for the mean time. Now, if you'll let me, can I check the bandages on your wounds??"
Dong Wook put out her hand towards Minzy. Instead of offering her injured hand, Minzy just stared at Dong Wook's offering hand. Dong Wook chuckled to himself as he pointed at her injured arm. Minzy than blinked in realization and flushed red at herself as she offered that hand to Dong Wook.
"Good girl."
Dong Wook's smile never left his face as he gently unwrapped the old bandages and replaced them with new ones. When he was finished, his hands were covered with blood that dripped from Minzy's wounds. Minzy said a soft 'Mianhaeyo' when she saw the elder's red hands.
"Haha, don't worry. I'll just wash it off. Could you wait here for a minute??"
As Dong Wook knew that Minzy wasn't in a stable connection, he had to reassure her first before things happen. When Minzy nodded, Dong Wook ruffled her head and proceeded to the washroom.
'I have never seen anyone treat me so kindly eversince I was kidnapped.... Except for Daesung oppa.... Speaking of him...'
Minzy looked over to her left and found out that another person was also in the room. Since it was covered by a curtain, she couldn't see who it was.
"What are you looking at??"
Minzy gasped at the sound of Dong Wook's voice and the sight of him wiping his wet hands with a dry cloth.
"I... I was looking for...."
"You mean Kang Daesung?? Oh, don't worry, he's just there beside you. Want to comfirm it yourself?"
Not even waiting for the girl to answer, Dong Wook just walked to the curtain-blocked bed and pulled the curtains to reveal a white-yellow haired boy sleeping soundly. One of his legs was broken as it was hanging from the ceiling. He also had bandages wrapped around his head.
"Wha....What happened to him???"
Minzy was struggling to keep her tears from falling as she looked at her friend.
"From what we could retrieve from the security cameras, it seems like Daesung here was tortured when he tried to approach the computers in the room when no one was looking."
Dong Wook sighed at the boy's condition and sat beside the now crying Minzy. Dong Wook didn't know why, but he couldn't help himself as he hugged Minzy in a attempt to comfort her. Until Minzy was down to only sniffles did Dong Wook finally let her go.
"Who.....who saved us??"
Minzy said through her sniffles. After Dong Wook wiped Minzy's face with a cloth, he than said:
"You know a boy by the name of Choi Seunghyun??"
"Yes. He was one of the older kids out of our group. Seunghyun oppa was always there to help us. Until that one day though...."
Minzy went silent after that. Dong Wook knew that the girl was thinking so he didn't interupt her or did anything that may break her concentration but just sat beside her, listening.
"Until that one day, Seunghyun oppa was (sniff) caught giving away his own food to Chae Rin unnie, who was deprived of any food because of rebelling against the doctors. They.... They (sniff) dragged Seunghyun oppa out of the door... and .... his screams.... was the only thing (sniff) that we heard throughout that (sniff) night....."
Dong Wook caringly held out a cloth for Minzy to blow her nose.
"When.... when Seunghyun oppa (sniff) came back, his head has (sniff) grown a pair of cat ears and a cat tail on his behind... We couldn't do anything.... We just (sniff) watched as they dragged Seunghyun from there to there (sniff) as they continued to experiment on him....."
Dong Wook frowned on seeing Minzy cry again. But, this time Minzy was reluctant to cry like a baby anymore but just wiped away her tears and continued.
"One time, Seunghyun oppa was so weak from the experiments, that he collapsed when he was sent back to the room that we were locked in. When we all rushed to help him, we were told to stay still by the doctors and we were given a warning if anyone tried to approach him. Than, a large man with chains came in. He... He did something to Seunghyun oppa... But my eyes and ears were covered by Daesung oppa so I don't know. The next thing that I saw when I pried Daesung oppa's hands, was Seunghyun kneeling on the floor, a cloth covered his eyes and a gag over his mouth and large chains were wrapped around his body tightly. I couldn't remember anything after that as the doctors told us to go to sleep."
Dong Wook was shocked that Minzy actually had stopped her crying and was explaining it smoothly. Dong Wook smiled as he patted Minzy's head and was deeply impressed by Minzy's from-negative-to-positive mood swings.
"Did Seunghyun oppa saved us??"
"Yes. Thank you for telling those information to me. You were very good for not crying while explaining those. You really are a brave girl."
Minzy smiled for the first time that day as she thanked Dong Wook for complimenting her.
"Am... Am I supposed to tell you about the other's??"
"Yes. But now, I want you to rest. You need one."
Dong Wook said as he saw Minzy yawning. Dong Wook warmly tucked the girl in and even stayed by Minzy's side until she slept.
"So now, how do I tell this to Seungri-sshi??"

Oh, I just realized that this entire chapter was entirely focused on Dong Wook and Minzy. I really love how Minzy actually respect and sees Dong Wook as her idol and ideal type in real life.
Anyway, do enjoy this story!!
