A Day In The City

Lili was right and wrong at once about the trail. It does lead right to the town, but it doesn't lead somewhere new and different. But for me this place is so different than anything else I have ever seen. All the buildings are a mixture. Some are made of glass, and others of a white stone. Each one towering and then some little shops. Everything moves smoothly together. Almost like looking at a puzzle. The sun reflects off the glass and then bounces onto the stone ones make them appear to sparkle. The streets are a soft grey, and everything is connected in every way, one thing leads to another. I don't say anything and neither does Lili as I breathe in the world around me. Men and women are draped in finery and it appears everyone seems to live I harmony. There is no one who seems poor or not having the same status as another. People smile at you when you're passing, and the smell of food follows you everywhere. And the air is sweet, like sugar is in it. I don't think I could ever experience it tonight but if I had to choose between this and Velaris it would be Velaris every time though I would love to come here again. So I ask Lili "what do you wanna do first?"

"I was thinking we should go to a few storms, visit the Diamond House..." She says but I stop her to ask, "Whats the Diamond House?"

"You'll see." She says and links arms with me and we go into the next shop we see.

It is a glass  building covered in a great many windows and as we enter the scent of flowers hit me and I think of the Spring Court and all its flowers. I take a deep breath and Lili makes an "ah" sound when she lays eyes on a sheer white dress, delicately laced with some sort of jewel in flecks covering the entire thing. As we near the gown I realize it's a wedding dress.

"Its a wedding dress." I say to her.

"Yes." She says and touches the plunging neckline.

"But what do you need one for." I ask.

"Well I am to be married, we already know we're mates I think we should have the wedding first and then the mating bond ceremony." She says a smile forming on her face so I decide to say, "Why don't you try it on?"

"Me?"

"Yes you."

"Now?"

"Definitely."

"Here?"

"Its where the dress is." I say and remove it from the hanger and drape it over my arms.

"Here, now go try it on. Who knows maybe you'll buy it and be one step closer to planning your wedding." I say.

"If you insist." She says and walks to the nearest dressing room.

I decide to go through some of the clothes myself. I find tons of things but nothing I feel like I truly love. I wander over to the jewelry section and go over everything searching for something I could actually see myself wearing. I can't wear a necklace, I already have one from the nigh court, I don't need a ring, I have the one Rhys gave me. And then I see a beautiful silver bracelet with dark blue diamonds going around in a line on it. A second later a women appears and says, "Interested?"

"Maybe." I say.

"Would you like to try it on?" She says and pulls out a key and unlocks the glass case.

"Well alright." I say and point to the bracket which she takes out in a second and lays it on her frail hands. I hold out my wrist and she slides the bracelet on, it fits perfectly and I hold it up to the light. It's catches it perfectly and I do love the color.

I'm startled when I hear Lili say, "what do you think?"

I turn around and see she's atop a pedestal surrounded by mirrors.
