Monday came quicker than I hoped. I had to deal with Darrien and Trevor. Luckily, all three of us did not have the same class at the same time, but I did have one class with Darrien and two with Trevor.
After getting dressed in a yellow sundress, a red cardigan, and some red flats, I headed down stairs to grab a poptart. Delany was already down there eating a bowl of cereal.
"Good morning," she said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning. Are you ready to go back to school?"
She laughed. "I like school, remember? Are you ready to go back to school."
"I used to like school," I laughed. "But no. I'd rather hide in our room until forever."
We both laughed even though we both knew I was serious. After we finished our breakfast Delany, my mom, and I all headed off to work and school.
Ten minutes later I parked in the school parking lot right next to Kristen's car. The first bell had rung already so Delany and I rushed to get to class.
"See you later, Laney."
"See ya, Cassidy."
I scooted into my seat in history class right before the tardy bell rang. Coincidentally, it was the seat right beside Trevor.
"Good morning," he greeted.
"Hi," I responded. "Not to sound rude or anything, but did I always used to sit here?"
He laughed, even though I doubted he thought it was funny. "No, you usually don't. But then again, you're not usually late."
I nodded my head. "Right."
I sat through the boring lesson as Mr. Gringer talked about the Cold War for (thank God) the last time. Instead of actually listening, I thought about graduation in two more months, and how this was the last time I was going to get a repeat of a lesson I swear I heard a hundred times. Even though I'm going to miss Jefferson High, I have no doubt I will miss the poor teaching skills some of the teachers have.
Thinking about graduation made the time fly in history and I was relieved. As I was leaving the class to go to my locker I heard my name being called.
Thinking it was Trevor, I smiled, but when I turned around, it was just Darrien.
"Oh, hey Darrien."
He came up to me and wrapped a large arm around my shoulders. "Hey, babe. Were you expecting someone else?"
I nodded. All of a sudden everything about Darrien that I thought was cute I found very unattractive. Like the way he drummed his fingers on my shoulder as we walked down the hallway, or how he would smile at everything with breasts. He'd probably flirt with the chicken I brought for lunch.
We walked into chemistry together and sat at the lab table we shared with Kristen and Matt. When Kristen saw us she gave me a questioning look. "Hey, Kristen. It's nice to see you too," Darrien said as we sat down.
I shrugged his arm off of my shoulders and he looked at me quizzically but I just brushed it off with a smile.
Mrs. Mills passed out beakers, four for each lab table. "I'm going to work with Cassidy," Kristen told Matt.
"Okay," he smiled. I couldn't help but think that I wanted a relationship like them. They were probably going to go to the same college, move in together, get married and have little Kristens and mini Matts running around their small cozy home.
"Are you, Cassidy?" Kristen asked.
"Wh-what? I'm sorry. I was zoned out."
"I was asking," Kristen whispered. "Are you ever going to break up with him?"
