Kristen offered to spend the night, but I declined.  She shouldn't have to deal with my grief and tears.  I thought about how just a couple months ago, I never could have imagined we would be breaking up.  I remember back during the summer after my sophomore year when we first started dating we were glued to each other.  Darrien wouldn't hesitate to hold my hand, call me beautiful, or kiss me in public; but things change.

After reminiscing for what felt like forever, I finally fell into a dreamless sleep - not even my subconscious could function under such duress.  When I woke up the next morning I noticed my mom and Delaney went to Sunday morning service without me, giving me the house to myself.  Out of habit, I reached for my phone to call Darrien, but then quickly remembered last nights events.  Tears stung my eyes as they flowed freely.

I didn't plan on stopping any time soon, but the doorbell rang.  I quickly ran into the bathroom and grabbed a damp washcloth to wipe my face - although it didn't help me look any better - before running to the door.  I peeped through the window to see Trevor standing on our porch. I looked down at my red tank top and pink short shorts I wore as pajamas and shrugged.  If we're getting married one day, then he'll see me like this eventually.

When I opened the door, I noticed that Trevor had a brown bag in his hand.  "Good morning."

Trevor looked up and when he saw my appearance a look that I couldn't decipher flashed in his eyes.  "Good morning," he replied.

"What are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to check and see if you were feeling any better...."

"Well, no.  Not really.  What's in that bag?"

"May I come in?" he asked.  I blushed, realizing that I was just letting him stand outside in the hot sun, and stepped aside so he could go through the door.  "I went to the store to get food that helps people cheer up," he answered. "but I ended up buying a lot of snacks."  He pulled out Ben and Jerry's vanilla ice cream, Nilla wafers, a Hershey bar, marshmallows, and a jug of Simply Lemonade.

I smiled at the thoughtfulness, "Thank you Trevor, that is really sweet."

"It's no problem.  I know you can't forget about him quite yet," Trevor started, his voice getting lower every word, clearly trying not to trigger any tears, "but I thought I may be able to distract you for a while."

We went upstairs to the den and I put in a movie.  After eating all of the Nilla wafers - I eat when I'm upset, plus I didn't have breakfast - Trevor went back to the kitchen to grab the ice cream.  As if on cue, my phone chimed.  I picked up my phone to see there was a text from Kristen.  She wanted to know if I needed company.

You're too late, Trevor beat you to it, I replied.  She quickly responded with a lot of kissy faces and hearts and I just giggled and put my phone away.

"I leave for two minutes and you're smiling.  Maybe I'm not doing such a good job of cheering you up as I thought I was,"  Trevor teased, slumping on the couch with the whole carton of ice cream and two spoons.

I grabbed a spoon, stuffing the creamy substance in my mouth.  After it was gone I smiled at him, "You're doing an amazing job."  If I wasn't a victim of a recent breakup, I probably would have kissed him, but I knew it was just my hormones acting up, so instead I just snuggled next to him and dug my spoon into the ice cream once again.

I don't know when I fell asleep.  I knew it was after finishing the ice cream, and before the movie ended, but I only woke up after Delany tapped my arm.  I groaned and tried to turn around but when I did I realized that I wasn't in my bed, and that there was someone else there with me.  I forgot about Trevor being there, and he was fast asleep too, although he must have went to sleep after me because there was a new movie playing.
