The blonde man kneeled over Pride.
"So sad, my brother," Hohenheim sighed scooping the small child into his arms. "To think you were asking for your bastard father."
An eye opened up in the ground under him. Hohenheim's eyes went wide in horror as the ground beneath his feet began to cave in.
He looked up at the sky. 'Trisha forgive me! I will come back!' he promised silently.
------
"Can we rest yet?" Ed sighed.
"Fine," Roy sighed. They had been walking for a while and still no sign of the pocket watch.
"We should sleep," Riza panted falling on her back before unhooking her holster from her belt.
"I like that idea," Al sighed flopping down on his back as well.
"Someone should stay up and watch," Roy suggested.
"From what?" Ed groaned. "We are the only things here."
"As far as we are aware. We could have been shadowed," Riza suggested creating a tense atmosphere around the make shift camp. "I'll take first watch," she said sitting up and readying her gun.
"I'll take the next watch," Roy sighed laying down. The dark cavern went silent and an eerie calm settled around them. All of them sat and waited for something to happen.
-----
Hohenheim lifted himself into a sitting position. An endless black settled around him.
An illusion, he thought instantly. Something stirred beside him.
"Pride?" he asked.
"Yes, Hohenheim where are we?" he asked groggily.
"I think we're trapped in an illusion," he answered scanning the blackness for a hole.
"How are we supposed to break it!?" Pride cried irritably.
"Be quiet i'm looking for a flaw." Hohenheim hissed. He looked over his surroundings over and over. The only thing he could see was black. He closed his eyes and tried to dissolve the illusion in his mind. He imagined a light in his hand. he opened his eyes and there was a torch.
The illusion had slowly started to melt away around Hohenheim. 'So this is your power?' he thought to himself. He remembered Pride looking as if he was about to pass out from blood loss when he had not a scratch on him.
Hohenheim scanned his new surroundings. It was still dark but it was different.
Pride was propped up against something staring at the ground. Van put a hand on the homunculus's shoulder.
"Pride, snap out of it!" he called shaking him. The homunculus jumped and screamed.
"Hohenheim, what's going on?" he cried.
"I can tell that we are moving," he said pausing to knock on the surface Pride was laying against. A loud crashing sound followed. The sound identified the surface as thick metal.
"We're in a metal box," Hohenheim announced.
"Like a train car?" Pride asked.
"Yes," Hohenheim smiled. "That is exactly where I think we are."
Van sat down opposite Pride and hit someone. He turned and put his hands on the figures shoulders. He felt the figure's hair that was pulled into a braid. Shocked and scared Hohenheim moved his hand to the top of the figure's head and felt his son's signature cow lick.
He began to frantically shake the man.
"Ed! Edward wake up!" he cried. Ed jumped and jerked away from him.
"Dad?" Ed asked recognizing his father's voice.
"Yes, is there anyone else here?" Hohenheim nodded.
"Where is 'here'?" Ed sighed searching the darkness.
"We think we're in a train car," Hohenheim answered.
"We?" Ed asked sitting back down.
"Me and Pride, now where is Alphonse?" He asked insistently.
"Oh, I guess he's here, and so are the Mustangs." he said looking around the car for his brother.
"Look for the Fürher first," Hohenheim said trying to find Roy.
"Why," Ed groaned.
"He can make light for us," Hohenheim said.
Ed decided finding everyone by touch could be a little awkward so he found Roy pretty quickly.
Roy screamed and almost punched Ed.
"Just make a flame so we can find everyone!" Ed snarled.
Roy did as he was told. The dusty train car was lit up to reveal Al was laid down with his head against the corner of the car. Riza was thrown over Roy.
Roy shook Riza awake and almost got shot. Ed gently shook his brother who simply blinked and screamed.
Hohenheim explained that he was in Xing because he felt there was something ominous happening there. He explained the new homunculus's power of illusion.
"If we're in a train car? Where are we going?" Riza asked.
"I would guess, the homunculus would send us far away from Xing." Roy answered.
The train screeched and slowed to a stop.
"I guess that means we're about to find out," Ed sighed opening the door.
All of the Amestrians and the homunculus squinted at the sudden bright light.
