Chapter 30: A Generous Princess

Everyone got dressed to look around town.

"Xiùlán these gowns are beautiful!" May awed admiring her light pink gown that faded to a darker pink near the bottom and had a fancy top that was dark pink.

"Princess is this necessary? I should wear my uniform so I can protect the emperor in the event of an attack." Lan Fan argued stepping out in a beautiful one shouldered white mermaid style dress with delicate blue embroidery all over the dress.

"Lan Fan you look amazing!" May squealed.

Lan Fan blushed and looked away, "You really think so?" She asked.

"Oh yes! You look just like royalty!!" May beamed at the older woman.

"Come over here," Xiùlán smiled beckoning Lan Fan to her vanity.

The woman pulled back some of her friend's hair into a bun on the top of her head and placed an accessory around it then set it with a long ivory pin. She then applied some makeup to her face and then moved to May's.

For May she pulled some of her hair into two buns on the side of her head and placed ornaments over them.

Then May and Lan Fan moved to fix Xiùlán's hair. Her's was completely put up and her tiara was pinned into her hair.

The crown itself was showered with gold and precious stones. The crown was configured into the shape of flames and had stone beads on gold strings and tassels hanging down to her shoulders.

Meanwhile Fai, Mustang, and the emperor were being dressed by maids.

Fai wore his normal warrior robes and sword while the emperor was decorated with silk robes and a headdress. Mustang was dressed in a lavish but simple suit.

They all met in the grand foyer with the others to send them off.

"Where is Lan Fan?" Ling asked.

"I am right here emperor," Lan Fan answered bowing.

Ling looked as if she had slapped him. Never had he seen his most trusted protector dressed like a lady of nobility.

"Do you wish for me to change?" she asked as color flooded to her face.

"No!" He answered quickly shocking everyone. "I mean if Xiùlán thinks that this is better than it is," he covered holding out his arm for her.

She took his arm and began to walk towards the door. Fai held out his arm for his sister but she stopped him.

"If you don't mind I would like to walk with the Füher, if I may," she said turning to his wife for permission.

She looked up shocked that she was asking then nodded.

Xiùlán took Roy's arm as May took Fai's. They ventured out into the city the girls all holding a parasol.

"So princess why is it that you wanted to take a walk with me through the city.

"Well you out of all of the others know how to kill homunculi as well as your home city which I've heard is almost a carbon copy of mine." She answered.

"Yes and what does that have to do with anything?" He asked.

"I was talking to Ed and Al's father and he said that two different what are they called?"
