"Would you like to explain to me, Roy Mustang why when I trusted you with my research you repayed me by letting my reaserch end up like this!" Berthold Hawkeye screamed jerking his daughter around to show her back to the people assembled at the door.
A gasp broke out from the crowd seeing Riza's burn scared back.
"I told you daddy it happened in Ishbal!" Riza cried.
"No its my fault," Roy explained.
"Roy!" Riza warned.
"What?" Berthold Hawkeye asked. He charged over to Roy and grabbed him by his collar, "YOU DEFILED MY RESEARCH AND HURT MY DAUGHTER!" he cried.
"Don't incirminate me when you are the one who dropped this burden on a young girl by forcing the burden of flame alchemy by tatooing it on her back!" Roy glared.
"Don't lecture me adout something you know nothing about boy!" Berthold screamed.
"What's going on?" Hughes cried running up to the door carrying Christine.
The sound of a gun being cocked silenced the room. Riza stood with a pistol clutched in her hand pointed at her father.
"Riza why are you holding a gun at your own father?" her father asked not releasing Roy.
"Because my father is threatening my husband in front of my daughter for something that's not his fault." She answered flatly.
"Your husband?" Berthold asked.
"Daddy after I showed Roy your research I knew that I needed to make sure his dreams for this country became reality. I joined the millitary so I could aid him and aparently was surprisingly good at handling a gun. I was deployed to ishbal while I was still in the acadamy. there I saw the wrong I'd created. I was the cause of so many deaths! I killed innocent people! columns of flames would kill hundreds of innocent women men and children every time a man snapped his fingers! No man should have that power! I made that happen! The deaths of all of those innocent people are on my head! I can't stand here and hear you blame him for my wrongs!" Tears ran down Riza's face in streams. The gun quaked in her hand. Her fathers hand lashed out and struck her across the face.
The crowd gasped.
"My daughter those aren't your burdens to bear. I was the one who created that terrible alchemy. Then I entrusted all of my demons to you." Bertholds face was also now covered in tears.
"Your mother would have been so disappointed in me." Berthold cried.
"Master?" Roy spoke clearing his throat.
"Yes boy?" Berthold narrows his eyes.
"I wanted you to know I'm greatly ashamed of what happened in Ishbal and I take punishment for the deaths that came by flame alchemy for it was me who snapped my fingers and killed those people. It was my choice. No one can be blamed but I," He stated.
"Well yes but I see that my daughter is safe here and that was all I asked and I thank you for protecting my dying wish." he grinned and shook Roy's hand.
Riza was now sitting on the floor as Black Hayate sat in her lap. Roy went over to her and helped her up the held her in his arms.
"I'm afraid there were times when I almost couldn't protect her. Many of those people at the door I'm forever indebted to because they risked their lives to protect my suborbinate when I couldn't," Roy grinned.
"Well then I thank you all for protecting my daughter." Berthold grinned.
"Not that I don't just love sappey family moments but we really need to get Pride and go to Xing," Envy sighed.
"Ah yes we need to get on the first train to Xing." Roy stated.
"Yes, I agree but I will be going with you," Riza challenged.
"I guess I don't have a choice after all of that." he smiled.
