Ch. 36 Preparing for Battle

The group swiftly returned to the palace of the Feng clan. Everyone had their assignments and were fast at work trying to complete their tasks before the next day.

Xiúlàn met with her brother to check on his condition. He smiled at her as she approached. His wounds were almost completely healed and he was ready to help in the fight.

"Brother were you able to decipher the sword's inscription?" She asked eagerly.

"I have but I'm afraid I don't know much about Alchemy so I don't know what they mean." He sighed.

"That's great!" She cheered. "Go find Van Hohenheim immediately and give him the notes!"

Fai nodded and went off to his task.

Elsewhere Ed, Al and Roy were organizing their plan and breaking everyone up into groups.

May sat with Winry in the garden trying to ease her anxious feelings.

Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and Bradley sat in silence while Greed paced the room uneasily.

"Greed will you sit down." List droned. "You're making me uneasy."

"Well quit being so calm. It pisses me off." He grimaced.

"It can't be that you're scared Greed?" Envy eyed him coyly.

"I'm not scared. Defeating this bitch will take all of our energy. And if we win we get to go on living." He replied.

Lust, Envy, and Gluttony exchanged glances. Bradley stared silently out the window.

"I'm not gonna let you boneheads ruin that for me." Greed smirked.

"This wouldn't have anything to do with that pretty little princess would it?" Envy mused.

"Shut up." Greed hissed pushing the other man out of his personal space.

The others chuckled at the spikey haired man's expense. Greed pouted before a smirk snuck its way to his lips.

"Homunculi." A voice spoke from the hall. All red eyes turned to the princes in the doorway.

"We need to talk about tomorrow. The others are in the common room." She stated blankly.

They followed her into the common room where everyone was gathered.

"I ordered the servants to go through the city and hand out summons to all of the civilians. They are to meet here at 5pm. That should give Hohenheim and Fai enough time to finish the circle." She announced. "The Füher And I are going to be at the North and South sides of the city."

"And in the meantime Al and I are going to head toward the east side of the city while May, Ling, and Greed head towards the west side. Lust, Gluttony, and Envy will stay near the south. Bradley and Kimbly I need you to guard the castle." Ed stated.

Everyone nodded in understanding.

"And what about me?" Riza asked with her jaw set.

"Yeah me too! Why are we left out?" Winry complained.

"We need some people in the castle to look after everyone." Roy responded.

"I don't know when I became a baby sitter to you! Have you forgotten Ishval? Or the numerous times I have saved your life?!" Riza seethed.

"That's before you were my wife." Roy retorted.

"And what the hell does that mean!? We are partners. We have always been in this together. Now even more so. You have to stop thinking that you're more expendable than I am." She growled before taking a seat by the window.
