"Zoe"
My eyes jolted open and met the ginger haired boy sitting in front of me. I almost forgot where I was.
"Peter," I greeted.
He was kneeling on the floor, his arms rested on the bed and his chin rested on his arms. Our faces were close.
"Morning," he greeted back. "Did you sleep well?"
"I think so." I said, not even feeling like I had slept at all. But I was refreshed, not tired.
"Let's get the day started." He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of bed. I tumbled out of the covers and clumsily followed him out the tree house.
"On Neverland," he began, "You don't need to eat, you never go hungry! But you can still enjoy the food if you want to."
He grabbed a mango from a tree and tossed it to me.
"Thanks."
"No problem. So first things first, I'm gonna take you to see Cinderella, so you'll believe me."
"Wow, Cinderella..." I said in awe.
We didn't fly this time, we walked and enjoyed the surroundings that Neverland had to offer.
"So what's bad about this place," I asked, not seeing a single flaw.
"You can get injured, badly, but I don't see why you would get into any fights."
"With pirates?" I joked.
"Sure," he chuckled and added sarcastically,"You would totally beat one of them."
I gasped, acting like I was shocked. "You don't think I could fight any of them and win?"
Peter smirked and whispered in my ear.
"Not even Smee," he said, goosebumps rising from my neck.
I rolled my eyes thinking of the tubby old man that served as Captain Hook's assistant- or slave.
We arrived at the shore and walked down along the shallow water.
Peter nudged me in to deeper water, getting my fluffy pants wet. I opened my mouth and scoffed. For revenge I splashed him back.
"Hey!" He said, surprised.
We continued a splash fight not noticing that we reached a small, elegant hut.
"You guys done?" A blonde girl about our age stood at her porch, eyeing us judgmentally. She had a light blue dress on with a brown apron tied around her waist.
"Hey Cindy," Peter greeted.
She scoffed. "So childish."
He shrugged," What did you expect?"
"Who's this?" She asked a little friendlier than she acted to Peter.
"Her name's Zoe, and she knows all about us!" Peter responded.
"What do you mean knows all about us?"
I spoke up now," I've read your stories. I know about your lost glass slipper and how-"
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. Never found it," she interrupted. "But Snow has to see this. SNOW!"
Never found her glass slipper? Are the stories all wrong? Or have they not came true yet? I thought intently.
Another girl about our age came out. She had raven black hair with a headband that had a red bow on it. She wore a simple royal blue summer dress.
"Snow White?" I asked. These people all looked like younger versions of the characters I've come to know.
"The one and only!" She announced.
"Zoe says she knows about us." Cinderella stated.
"Oh really? That means you know about the apple, oh, how embarrassing." She covered her mouth, only her blushed cheeks showing.
"Well I'll be right back I gotta do something. See you in a bit. Take good care of Zoe!" Peter said and went off.
The girls and I sat down on a table that was located on the porch. Cinderella served us tea.
"So how's it like being a princess?" I asked as if it was completely normal.
"It was great." Snow White replied taking a sip of her tea.
"I'm sorry, you said was?"
"Yeah he left me, said there was some other girl." She sounded like she didn't care but her expression gave it away: she was hurt.
"I'm sorry..."
"Well, I haven't seen my prince since the ball," Cinderella told me."I came here to Neverland to talk to my fairy godmother, as you know. She's good friends with Tink. She transformed me and at the ball I lost one of my shoes, and it's never been returned. I was too afraid to go back to my old house with my step mom and sisters so I ended up here and Snow came with me."
"And this girl named Wendy came here a while ago. She had the Lost Boys build this hut for us after we became good friends." Snow White stated.
"She was here when all of this stuff happened. We told her about our princes and everything," Cinderella continued.
"I'll get some more tea." Snow White said and lifted the tray into the inside of the hut.
After a few seconds Cinderella whispered something to me. "Between you and me, Wendy was extremely suspicious. She was really nice to us, in fact, too nice. Snow can't see through that cause she's oblivious. But that girl was promiscuous, if you know what I mean."
"Really?" I asked shocked.
"Yeah. You would've thought she was Peter's girl, but no. And I even think she took a liking to my prince, and my shoes. She got this house made for us after everything happened."
"I would've never thought."
"Don't judge a book by its cover, darling," Cinderella said as Snow White came back with the tray.
We enjoyed a few more cups of tea and little biscuits that Snow White had made when Peter came back. And he had company.
"Zoe, meet Hook." He said as he moved a boy that looked seventeen in front of me. The new boy had shabby dark brown hair, parted messily to the side. His neck-lengthed hair also curled a little at the tips. He had deep turquoise eyes and one earring on his left ear that was golden. And most importantly, where one of his hands should've been, there was a hook.
"Hook" grabbed my hand with his only one, and planted a kiss on my knuckles. "Good-day, m'lady" a heavy British accent greeted.
"Hold on. Hook, as in Captain Hook?" I asked in disbelief.
"Who else, honey?" He said confidently.
"I just expected you to be much, much older..."
"Zoe knows about us," Peter explained. "I think we're the only things she remembers. Except, I don't think your stories were very accurate." That last sentence was directed to me.
"Me either," I confessed. "Speaking of, aren't you guys, like, arch enemies? Peter cut your hand off, didn't he?"
"Aye, but that's an old story. It was an accident and even pirates learn to forgive. Plus, why would I be angry at him when I would loose the opportunity to help such a beautiful lady." Hook smirked and Peter glared at him.
"As you know," Peter began, his glare still fixated on Hook. "Hook's a pirate, he has a lot of treasures and he can find a lot of treasures. He also knows the island just as well as I do. So I thought maybe he could help us regain your memory with something he has or that we can find."
"Since you know us, I'm assuming every time you see someone and recognize them, you remember who they are," Hook explained.
"You actually might be right." I said thinking about the accuracy of that statement.
"It'll be a tough one, but we have to find things that are familiar to you from the other world." Hook said.
"You guys are familiar to me." I responded.
"In any way besides your silly stories?" He asked.
"I... don't know."
"Well we better start. Too much time with Pan is never a good thing," he grunted.
We said bye to the girls and started walking back into the jungle. I looked at Cinderella's lost eyes and Snow White's pained ones before we left. I knew that my mission had changed since my "arrival" on Neverland. I had to find out who Wendy really was.
