I woke up on a soft bed, with warm arms around me. I looked about, another bed with Meya and Inga still reading their novel, it looked different. Then I noticed a small pile of books behind them. They had read all those books! I looked to Tsubasa who was still holding me in his arms. I turned around to face him and stuffed my face into his chest, I could hear his heart beating, bum-bum bum-bum. Sleep soon took me again.
"HA-AH-AAAAAH-CHOO!" I was jolted awake. The sneeze had come from right in front of me. Tsubasa had his index covering his nostrils.
"Woh. That was loud." Inga said with a smile.
I couldn't help but laugh. Tsubasa turned to face me and growled. "What's the growl for," I questioned, he growled some more. "Ha ha, fight me, chump." I sat criss-cross facing him. He reared up to pounce but ended up falling off the end of the bed.
"That was a- something else completely!" Inga laughed.
Tsubasa got up from the floor and stuck his tongue out at me and scowled sarcastically.
"What was that for, poor baby hit the floor too hard." he came up onto the mattress and lay his head on my lap, I cradled his head.
"We came in here to get you guys so we could explore, maybe cause some mischief, and it does not seem as though that is happening." Meya pouted at me for getting distracted.
"You jealous of us miss." I sassed her.
"Not a chance." She stuck out her tongue at me.
"Oh, you are so." I hopped to my feet. "To the halls,"
We exited the room and looked down the halls.
"Which way?" Tsubasa asked looking around.
"I say we go right." I walked out of the room and pointed right
"Iris, we just came from that way." Meya rolled her eyes.
"Haha, just, you funny girl, you and Inga read, what, ten books." I sneered. Meya giggled at my face.
"Eleven actually." Inga said matter-of-factly
"Shush you." Meya turned her head and glared.
"How? I couldn't read that in a month, let alone a-" I trailed off "How long were we asleep?"
"A few hours." Meya counted off her fingers.
"Oh, thanks, anyway, I couldn't read that in a month, let alone a few hours!" I corrected myself.
"Well, you know those speed reading lenses?" Inga inquired.
"No, what are they?" I admitted, I wasn't much of a reader, more of a writer.
"Well, they are quite self-exploratory, they're tablet like things that you put over the book, and help you read faster. We used those." Meya finished for him.
"Cool, I think I've heard of those, are they the ones where the prototypes sucked people into the book they were reading, and a group of Green Aredo experts spent three years trying to pry people from the books?" I raised my eyebrow, knowing the answer.
"The very same," Inga stated.
"I don't trust those things." I shook my head. I was right.
"Um, can we return to exploring and stuff please." Tsubasa whined.
"Sure, must you whine like a child, though." I looked him dead in the eyes.
"Oh come on, I'm a child at heart, always will be. You should know this." He stared back with the same intensity.
"I hate you sometimes," I falsely admitted, my chin on my fist.
"No, you love me." Tsubasa grinned wide, it melted me. I pulled his face to mine, lips barely touching.
"Yes, I do, don't forget it." I released him and started skipping away.
"Every time, I swear she's trying to seduce me, every time." Tsubasa groaned.
"Come on you guys!" I spun on my foot to face them. Meya started walking.
"That means you too, boys." Meya pointed back, grinning.
"Coming," Tsubasa muttered something under his breath, so I pretended to hear him.
"Heard that, now why don't you say it aloud for the world to hear." In return, I got a massive blush from him. "I want to hear it aloud, I'm not sure I got the right message."
"Nothing, at least not anything you want to hear." He blushed even harder.
"Oooooooh, juicy," Meya giggled.
"No, nothing juicy," Tsubasa blurted out quickly.
"At least nothing Iris would want to hear." Inga laughed jokingly.
"Up to the rafters!" Meya jumped.
"Race ya!" I hollered as I ran, giving myself a head start.
I scrambled to a window and scrambled up the sill. I got up following Meya who had managed to get ahead of me. I balanced on a beam and jumped forward to the next shaft. I gained momentum and started doing riskier jumps and twirling through the air. I glanced over to the side to see Tsubasa swinging from his arms on the thin rafters down below. I then looked down, guards, I decided I would trod carefully.
Damn, shouldn't have looked away. I slammed into the next rafter and fell. Down I went, 'till my arms found a thin rafter. I grabbed it with a loud shriek as I couldn't get to chest on, my shoulder was ripped out of place and I lost grip again.
"Hey, look up, it a girl, falling from the rafters." I heard a guard from below announcing to his colleagues.
I decided it a good time to holler for help, but it came out as a scream. I fell and fell, 'till I couldn't fall no more. I hit the ground with a crack as I felt bones breaking. As if my troubles weren't bad enough. The floor cracked from where I had just fallen to and I fell again to the hard and quite cold, basement floor. A shrill noise came from the patrol of guards that crowded the hole I so kindly created for them.
"Go help her up Cadet Drosme." An authoritative voice boomed. The Cadet gabbed me by the waist and hauled me up, hopping on the larger boulders to get back up to the floor. Meya was on me in a split second.
"Oh my gosh I was so worried. Are you OK? Don't do that again!" She squeezed my wrist. I bit my tongue to stifle a scream. She kept squeezing me for a while till I mustered up enough air to say she was squeezing to hard. It came out a little like this.
"Heeeeeeee."
