"NEWT!" Her voice echoed throughout the dungeon like prison area. Tears fell out of her eyes like cascading waterfalls that seemed to never want to end. (Name) knew she was throwing a fit at this point, crying loudly out while she hit her fists against the bars. She had hit one last time, a loud echoing sound of the metal vibrating filling the room once more. She could not handle the pain of losing Newt at this point. Through everything they've been through, they knew this would happen if they did not move to London soon. And, they were just so close to leaving so they were safe.

So close.

But yet, here she stood with her heart aching and her eyes burning. She had slowly let herself lean against the bars before sliding down onto the floor, hugging her knees tightly while she sobbed silently. "Oh, Newt..." She had whispered, before the locked barred door jolted open. (Name) had yelped and tumbled back, hitting her head before groaning. She looked up to see Newt looking down at her, his eyes looking dull and red as if he was just sobbing. He was holding onto his wand, tightening and loosening his grasp.

He was nervous.

He took a slow breath before swallowing roughly and closing his eyes. This was it. He was going to loose her. He slowly opened his eyes and looked right into (Name)'s (Colored) ones. She was staring at him with a sad smile, a soft and sad laugh escaping her lips. "Newt, I knew you'd be back." She managed to stutter out. Newt's eyes had closed tightly as his eyes threatened to release more tears. Those words broke his heart. She had so much faith in him, and it was all false.

"I am so, so sorry." Newt said, while he looked over his shoulder at the other Wizard watching him closely. The other man had sighed and nodded as if taking his pleading look as a beg to say goodbye. Newt turned back forward, and he met her wide, hurt, and broken eyes. A tear ran down her cheek, and Newt had fallen onto his knees, putting down the wand with the sound echoing through the room. "Please, please don't cry." He said, forcing the strongest smile he could as he cupped her cheek in his hand and wiped away the tears with his thumb.

She leant her head against his hand, closing her eyes. The warmth of his large hand was so familiar to her, it almost felt like this was not the end. Rather, it was a beginning. "I love you." Her voice was so faint. A quiet, hopeless, wisp of a voice. Newt could barely hold himself together while his breaths became more and more jagged by the moments. (Name) moved forward and hugged him tightly before resting her head on his shoulder. After what felt like seconds but must have been minutes, they parted.

Their eyes met. And, just like that they took one last broken, hurt, and hopeless kiss. They stayed like that for what must have been minutes, because the other Wizard got more and more impatient. "Alright, Scamander! Hurry up!" His rough, booming voice echoed through the room. Newt jumped away from (Name) and cleared his throat, picking up his wand in his shaky hand. (Name) already had closed her eyes tightly, unable to watch Newt as he was about to Obliviate her memories.

"Obliviate.." Newt's voice had barely even managed to say the one word while he dared not look at the person his shaky hand holding the wand was pointing at. This was it. It was like all at once, his word crashed down upon him. His heart was shattered, and he could still feel the strawberry chapstick that she always wore, still on his lips. He fell to his knees now as he dropped his wand before himself. He covered his eyes with his hands as he couldn't help but cry now. He couldn't help but cry.

He lost the last person he had ever promised to love. He had obliviated her memory.

He heard them knock her out, with her body falling upon the ground with a thud. They dragged her out of the room and left Newt there alone as he cried to himself.

He knew that he had to protect her.

That was the one thing he failed.
