December 20th, 2016. Day 30 since Alya went missing
Marinette sat in her room, staring at the ceiling. Her friend had been gone for nearly a month. No sign of her last known whereabouts, no witnesses, no way to track her. All felt lost.Mari felt her heart shatter as she once again began to sob, the sounds echoing through her cold room. Snow peacefully fell down from the sky as the grey clouds grew darker.
Normally, Marinette would be in the bakery, helping, maybe ice skating with hot cocoa in her hands as she laughed with her friends. But not this year. Not without Alya.
Nino had dumped Zora, knowing his heart truly belonged to Alya, wherever she may be. Chloe and Sabrina hung out with the three, once four, group of friends.
Since Thanksgiving, Paris had been peaceful. No Akumas, no fires or car crashes. Nothing bad. And then Alya..........
All these thoughts swarmed around Marinette's mind as she sobbed, sitting up and holding her knees against her chest. Her shoulders bunched slightly, tears ran down her cheeks and onto her sweatpants, making little dark grey spots.
Adrien had stayed at Marinette's these last few weeks, knowing she'd want support. Alyas mother only worked Monday's and Friday's at the Bourgisé Hotel since Alya had been missing for a week, back in November. Her father worked the same nights at the zoo, making sure he could spend time with his wife as they grieved.
Tom and Sabine kept the shop open, especially to Alyas family as her cousins and aunts and uncles gathered from all around to be with Alyas parents. Tom and Sabine also kept a jar on the tables that would normally be for tips, but was now being used to give Alyas family more money to pay the city for a full investigation over where Alya could be.
Marinette continued sobbing, her head now laying on her knees as her eyes were squeezed shut. This was Marinette's day now. Eating, crying, sleeping. She was never in a creative mood anymore, unable to focus in class as the seat next to her remained empty. Their teachers decided since lots of people were close to Alya that they wouldn't give out much homework, which students enjoyed through their grief.
Marinette continued to sob as she felt arms wrap around her. She smelled the familiar smell of cinnamon and immediately recognized it as Adrien. His strong arms cradled her and her fragile heart. Marinette turned and sound into his shoulder, Adrien not caring about the tear drops on his shoulder. She sobbed for hours, hours and hours, Adrien whispering calming words in her ears, attempting to make her stop.
Seeing her like this made his heart break. Adrien tried all he could. His heart shattered everyday as he walked into a room seeing a heartbroken and not smiling or joyful Marinette.
After Marinette fell asleep from crying, Adrien decided he needed to go home. Back to his old house. He quietly left the unusually empty bakery, slipping into the cold December weather. Small pieces of snow landed on adorned hair, jacket and eyelashes and didn't move.
He trudged through the snow, hearing the small crunch below his feet. His breath, now visible, felt warm as he blew into his hands for he had forgotten gloves. He walked past the park, the school, Master Fu's Massage Place, all places that would've made him smile......but not anymore
How could he smile? His girlfriend and his best friend were now both consumed by depression of missing their love and best friend. He felt lonely since Nino hadn't left his room unless it was to eat, and Marinette ate 2 times a day before crying and sleeping.
Adrien kept his head down as he walked the empty streets of Paris, growing closer to home with each step. It's not like he wanted to be there, but he needed to be.
Adriens main plan was to get inside, unfreeze his bank account and credit cards, and check all security cameras to see if Alya was last seen on them. The money would pay for anymore parts of the investigation, and the tapes would take the investigation a step closer to finding Alyas whereabouts.
Plagg flew out of his shirt pocket, making Adrien jump a little at the sudden actions. "Hey kid." Plagg said. Adrien chuckled.
"For once you're not thinking about cheese."
"Hey, just cuz I didn't say anything bout cheese doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it." Plagg crossed his paws defensively. Adrien chuckled again, a small smile on his lips as he continued walking, staring at the ground.
"Kid." Plagg said after a few moments of silence. Adrien looked at the small cat. "Turn around."
Adrien turned around to see he was there. At the very front gates of his house. The grey clouds in the sky seemed to swirl around the roof of the dark Agreste house, the iron gates creaking lightly as wind blew them just a little. Adrien scowled.
"Plagg I need your help." Adrien said, turning towards the small creature. "Sneak up behind the camera and voice recognized and pull the cords out. It doesn't matter if you break them or anything, no one will care." Plagg looked at the machines,
"Couldn't you just type in a code or something?" He said, stomach beginning to rumble. Adrien scoffed, glaring at the small cat for only thinking of cheese.
"No, I can't. If the cameras see me, dad will find me, then I will have to leave Mari and Nino." Adrien said, staring at the sky as snow began to fall. Plagg sighed, mumbling a quick "Fine" before flying towards the cameras.
Plagg made it easy. He flew over the fence and pulled the plugs, breaking them in half. Adrien, smirking, watched as Plagg reached into the small lock with his paws and unlocked it. As the iron gates creaked open, Adrien felt a snowflake land on his nose.
He looked up to see the grey and white cloud collide, gentle cold snowflakes drifting to the ground, turning and spinning in the light wind. Adrien pulled his scarf over his chin, letting the fabric rest on his nose and cover the lower half of his now cold cheeks and face. He sighed as he turned towards the gates, Plagg flying over and snuggling under the fabric of Adriens scarf.
Whatever dangers awaited for Adrien.....he would be ready.
It's so short. Don't kill meeee.
