SUZY

I looked up at the door. There he was, standing all mighty. I cleared my throat and gestured for him to enter the office and sit.

He sat on the couch in front of my desk.

"Are we going to talk with you inches away from me?" Baekhyun stared at me.

I looked at him. "No. I was about to stand up." I thought he was going to sit on the seat just behind my desk. I didn't know our 'talk' needed a distance of fewer than 1 inch.

I stood up and sat down adjacent to where he was sitting.

"Why are you here?" I asked. He pulled out a paper and handed it to me. I grabbed it and looked at him, confused.

"Read it." I rolled my eyes at his response and stared down at the paper, reading its contents.

"You're really going to push this, huh?" I said, placing the paper down on the center table.

He looked at me and nodded.

"How am I going to conduct an autopsy if the body has already been cremated?" I said in a matter-of-fact.

He gave a quick bark of laughter. "Then find out a way to do it without the body."

I stared at him without blinking. I was astounded at how stupid he sounded, considering the fact that he's a lawyer.

"Can you hear yourself right now? What do you want me to do? Collect the ashes and remake the body? I'm not a God." I rolled my eyes and controlled my urge to say something.

He didn't respond, and so I sighed. He's like this when his plan doesn't go his way.

"Then why did you cremate the body?" He asked.

I looked away and let out a small laugh in disbelief. "After the autopsy, rights to cremation or burying goes to the family. It wasn't my decision. And I certainly wasn't the person who cremated the body."

"But—"

"This case is done, Baek." I said—later realizing that I called him by the name I used to call him when we were together.

"Hyun. Baekhyun." I emphasized, clearing my throat afterward. His stare didn't leave my eyes.

It was getting awkward, and so I shook my head and looked away.

"Are we done here? I've got so much to do," I exclaimed, dusting my skirt as I stood up. I went towards the door and opened it. I looked at him.

He stood up and walked towards the exit when he suddenly stopped and faced me.

"I knew the case was done for. I wasn't that stupid. It was just an excuse to see you." He quietly stated before stepping outside my office.

I was left appalled. My grip on the door tightened as my knees grew weak. My heart started pounding so loud. It was the only thing I could hear.

It was just an excuse to see you.

Those words echoed inside my head all day. I couldn't even concentrate on my work.

"Dr. Bae?" I looked up, breaking the echoing words inside my head.

"Yes?" I asked, clearing my throat.

"Mr. Oh is here to see you," An intern says. She then left and was replaced by Sehun standing by the door, holding flowers.

I smiled and stood up. "Hey," He kissed the top of my head as soon as I ran to him, and looked at me.
