SUZY

We left the party at around one in the morning. There was an after-party, but I didn't want to go. I didn't want to risk any chance of seeing him again.

Our meeting today was purely coincidental. I shouldn't overthink it.

I put the password to unlock the door and placed Sehun's keys on the table. Sehun came in after, placing his bag on the floor right next to the shoe cabinet.

I made my way to the bedroom and removed my jacket. I tossed it in the laundry basket and jumped on the bed, sighing loudly.

"Wow, the party really drained your energy, huh?" Sehun said as he came into the room. He sat on the end of the bed and placed his hand on my leg.

He looked at me. "What happened when I wasn't with you at the party? You have been so quiet ever since."

I sat up and stared at him. Should I tell him? I mean, he knows the story. But like, I guess telling him now would cause any misunderstanding. Besides, as I've said, I shouldn't overthink it.

"Oh, nothing. The party did drain all my energy. You know how I hate those things," I reasoned out. I didn't lie; I'm not too fond of parties.

He nodded, "Should I stay here tonight, or should I come back tomorrow?"

What I loved about Sehun is how he doesn't force me to tell him anything. He lets me have my own space. Even though we've been together for a long time, he still hasn't changed. He was still so understanding, so patient when it comes to me.

I smiled, "Stay."

He smiled and lightly patted my legs. "Okay then, I'll just wash up. Do you want to watch a movie?"

I narrowed my eyes. "What kind of movie?"

"Horror," He responded quietly, looking away.

"What?"

"Horror..." He smiles at me, convincing me to watch a horror movie in the middle of the night.

"Fine! But you're going to order pancakes at our favorite breakfast restaurant in the morning." He nodded and threw a fist in the air.

I laughed, and he proceeded inside the bathroom.

I sighed.

Sehun's the right one for me. I have all the reasons to believe he's the one.

But why do I sound like I'm only convincing myself to believe it?

--

"I'm telling you, they want us to do another autopsy report. Apparently, they weren't satisfied with the results." Jennie passes me a folder containing the laboratory results of our recent autopsy. I opened the folder and carefully reviewed the report by the toxicologist.

I placed the folder on top of my desk and sat on the couch in front of it. I can't concentrate.

"Why are the lawyers in charge of the case so demanding? I can't alter these results. It's an official result."

"They told me if we don't redo the autopsy, they'll charge us with the destruction of evidence." I looked at Jennie.

"Then let them charge us with whatever they have on their sleeves. Besides, the body has been cremated. And even if we did agree with their request, there is absolutely no way of redoing the autopsy now." I scoffed, annoyed at how obnoxious these people are.

Lawyers are the worst. If they don't agree with the results, or if our results don't go in their way—they throw this tantrum that I can't even begin to describe how annoying it is.

"Who's the lawyer handling this case anyway?" I asked. Jennie grabbed the file and opened it.

She gasped, which made me look up at her.

"What?" I asked, curious.

"The lawyer's Attorney Byun. Baekhyun, to be exact," I blinked. Maybe if I blink three times, I would wake up and realize this is a nightmare. A long one.

"What?" I grabbed the file from her hand and looked at it myself.

Atty. Byun Baekhyun

I rolled my eyes and sighed. I feel nothing but anger for him now.

"The universe is really toying with you at this point." Jennie shakes her hand, picks up the file, and left my office.

Stupid universe.

If he is handling this case, he should have known that I am the person who did the autopsy. And now he's threatening me with charges? He's the one toying with me, not the universe. How dare he?

My thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I shouted.

I looked at the door and saw Jennie with an expression that I can't seem to understand. She was holding on to the door as she glances back and forth in the hallway.

"What is it, Jennie?" She then glanced back at me.

"He's here." My eyes widened.

Why is he here?

"I don't know why he's here. Maybe because I denied their request for a second autopsy. But boy, that was a fast reaction." She said, correctly guessing what I had in mind and closing the door behind her. She pulls down the blinds of the room.

"How'd you know he's here?"

"The medical receptionist called me, so I rushed here. He was looking for you,"

"Why me?"

"Are you even thinking straight right now? Of course, it's because you're the person who did the autopsy!"

I can't think straight.

"I'll deal with him." I can't deal with him.

"Are you sure?" No.

"Yes, now go, I'll be okay." She nodded and left my office.

Moments after hesitating, I stood up and went behind my desk. I turned my computer on and searched for his name on the web.

Attorney Byun Baekhyun Seoul

I typed.

One result caught my eye. It was the website of the P&B Law Firm that Chanyeol was talking about at the party.

I clicked on the website, and it revealed both their credentials on the homepage. I scrolled down and read his information.
