October

The sky was so blue, a nice day to go out, the sun was so bright it was hard to see. The wind blowing in my hair was so refreshing, and the smell of the fresh grass was unique. A nice day in traffic, a nice day in school, my name in Alexandra Martinez a ninth grader, today is October 23 my birthday. Here at school sitting at my desk in History class, my three best friends bought me a cake and brought it to school, we ate it at lunch with my other friends, at least they remembered.

My mom and step didn't even mention that today was my birthday. I was shocked; she always surprises me with something, last year she said the house was on fire and made a drill, when I ran downstairs it was a surprise party at eleven o'clock, it was embarrassing since I was on my Pajama's and all of my friends were there. They always bought me chocolate cake; I'm the chocoholic type of person. However, this year nothing, thinking, if it was going to be like last year at night.

"Alex, Alex" my friend Kelly called me from her desk.

"Yeah, what's up?" I asked. She asked if Friday I wanted to got to the movies with her and the others, 

I had plans for Friday so I told her no. To our family Friday is a time for family, we eat dinner together, watch movies and play games family comes first.

Later on the school bell rang, all the students running towards the gates, students talking in groups in the hallway. I left my Geometry classroom and said my goodbyes, when I went through the gate with my friends all of the students where outside gathering around, talking loud and looking curiously to the front. My friends and I squeezed into the crowd moving step by step, until we finally got to the front.

I froze, I saw my little sister with a cop inside a car, paralyzed for a second I couldn't speak, I couldn't move, I just kept looking at my little sister . She didn't look at the crowd just looked down with an emotionless face. Kelly and my other friends Lizzie, Jessica and Amy waited for my response Amy pushed me.

"Snap out of it" she yelled, "Emily is with a cop"

I looked at the, looked at Emily and ran toward her without any hesitation. Two cops tried to stop me in my half way there. I struggled to get out of their arms, screaming and moving around, I tried to get out.

"She's my little sister" I could finally catch my breath and able to get the strength to yell. The cop whom was with Emily walked towards us, he put one of his hands on the other cop's shoulder and they dropped me.

"Miss Martinez I need you to come with me I am afraid something terrible has happened" he looked Japanese but his English accent was perfect, he had medium black-blue hair and his eyes were the weirdest ones I've ever seen he had a turquoise liquid color turning brown appeared to be at least six-feet tall and didn't show emotions. He escorted me to the car as I sat beside Emily, she was motionless, I don't think she even noticed I was sitting there. I saw scared, I've never seen Emily act this way, something bad must've happened.
