Chapter 4 [edited]

February 5th, 2014

I gave people small smiles as I walked through the apartment complex, taking the stairs rather than the elevator up to our room that was located on the second floor. It was now six o’clock, meaning that I had been at Ashton’s for about six hours. We spent two hours in the hot tub, another hour in the pool, another hour in the sauna, and then the final two hours drying off in their suite playing video games on Michael’s multiple gaming systems.

Pushing open the door to our room, I was greeted with four questioning looks.

“What?” I asked, praying that I wasn’t going to be punished again.

“How are you feeling? Sore?” mom spoke up.

“No,” I replied, making their eyebrows shoot up in surprise, “Skiing relaxes me and I ended up working out my muscles,” I covered.

“Are you hungry?” my mom asked after pondering over my response for a bit. Nodding my head, I excused myself and quickly took a shower to get ready for bed. Tomorrow, I had to do a run through of the ceremonies so that everything went in order.

As I finished pulling my pyjama shirt over my head, Kennedy poked her head in with her our suppers. Why did she want to have supper with me?

“What’s up, sister?” She asked after setting down our trays and climbing onto the bed. I hungrily munched down on the pasta, not realizing how hungry I was.

“Nothing really. How are you liking Russia so far?” I asked. She was so lucky. This was a vacation for her, and she’s missing like, a month of school for this. But she’s only 13, so it doesn’t really matter anyways.

“It’s pretty cool. But what I really want to know is how you’re liking Russia so far,” she grinned while emphasizing the ‘you’re’ part.

Confused, I raised my eyebrows and ate more of my supper, “It’s nice, I guess. I’ve only been skiing so far—”

“Cut the bull shit. I know you didn’t go skiing today. But you’re hanging out with my favourite band instead,” Kennedy said smugly, leaving me confused.

“What are you talking about, Kennedy?” I asked, my palms getting sweaty. What favourite band?

“I saw the picture that Michael posted on twitter. I get updates when they tweet to my phone, its no wonder that Ashton’s tweets have been all lovey-dovey lately. He likes you,” Kennedy sighed while pulling up the picture from today. My eyes were closed in contentment and his were focused on working the knots out of my back.

“Wait, what do you mean your favourite band? I met Ashton when he crashed on a trail and I helped him back to their hotel, which is why I was late yesterday,” I wondered.

“Their band is called 5 Seconds of Summer,” Kennedy explained while playing their Try Hard music video. Their music was really good which brought a smile to my face, but it quickly disappeared once I realized that they didn’t tell me that they were in a band.

“Wait, so how many people have seen that picture then?” I asked worriedly. I already have enough stress from the Olympics, that I don’t need hate from crazy fan-girls.

“So far, 8,972 people. But the picture is probably already on tumblr so I would guess around 15,000?” Kennedy guessed. I shoved my hands into my face and groaned.

“But they don’t know who you are, which is great! I only did because of your hair and the tattoo on your shoulder,” Kennedy explained. I let out a sigh of relief.
