Chapter 13 [edited]

February 21st, 2014

“Sophia! If you get out here in the next 10 minutes, I have a muffin and hot chocolate from Tim Hortons with your name on it!” Anthony called from my door while pounding on it. My eyes snapped open and Ashton’s arms tightened around me.

“Coming, coach!” I called while slapping Ashton’s arms once Anthony’s foot steps faded away.

“Ashton, you need to go before we get caught. Then we’ll never be able to see each other again,” I whispered, making his eyes snap open, too.

“I feel like we’re having an affair and your husbands about to come marching through that door like on a drama show,” Ashton huskily said while hugging me tighter, his disordered curls tickling my neck.

“Seriously Ash, I have a race today. You gotta go.”

“Okay, good luck and I’ll be watching,” he smiled before quickly getting the picture, pecking me on the lips and forehead, and climbing out the window. Once he was safely down, I unhooked the ladder and let it drop into his awaiting hands.

“Bye!” I called as he sauntered away. He waved his hands and blew me a kiss. I quickly shut and locked my window and got ready so I could have my muffin and hot chocolate.

“Sophia Miller to the gate,” the official called. I nervously skied up and shrugged off my jacket while checking my bindings and skis: good.

Once again, the beeps started and I leaned back before pushing forward with all my might.

This course was extremely tricky. There were many fleshes, and due to the snow fall last night, many grooves. My poles were outstretched, prepared to hit any gate coming my way. Due to my skiing style, I was turning early to make sure I was coming as close to the gate as possible. Only, I didn't see the problem in that.

My outer ski caught on some snow, shifting my weight. My whole body was thrown towards the gate. I tried to get away from it before anything bad could happen, but it was too late.

Ashton’s P.O.V. [A/N: yaaay!]

I watched in horror as her ski got caught on the outside of the gate, swinging her around before basically throwing her down the hill. Gasps erupted from the TV room that were sitting in as the camera followed her gruesome twisting movements down the hill. She finally stopped rolling with her two skis off and missing both poles near the bottom of the hill, unresponsive. I launched myself out of the seat and bolted out the door, despite the protests from my band mates.

I ran as fast as I could to the ski site but she was already taken away. I looked around and spotted Kennedy bawling her eyes out with a couple other racers trying to cheer her up. Again, I ran over to her scooped her up in my arms.

“Kenny, it’s gonna be okay. She’s a fighter, she’ll be okay. I promise,” I promised her, not knowing if this was even true myself. Kennedy hugged me back.

“Take me to see her?” Kennedy requested with a heart breaking tone that no one could turn down. I nodded my head and carried her back to the hotel with her legs wrapped around my waist.

“Ashton! You can't just rush off like that!” John scolded as Kennedy and I walked into the room.

“Do you know what hospital she’s at?” I asked Kennedy while ignoring John’s comment completely.

Kennedy nodded her head and rattled off the information to us. Liz quickly hurried us to our rental car and punched the number into the GPS. We hurried off into the busy traffic with only one thing on my mind: Sophia.
