Chapter 9
February 14th, 2014
“Sophie! I want to go skiing!” Kennedy screamed while jumping on my bed. I let out a loud groan and gave her my sharpest glare.
“Right now?” I asked in desperation. She eagerly nodded her head and I sat up. “What if we invite Ash, Mike, Cal, and Luke?” I grinned at my little sister. She nodded her head again and held in her squeal. Laughing at how red her face now is, I picked up the phone and called Ashton.
“Hey Sophia, what’s up?” he asked as her answered the phone on the second ring.
“Want to go skiing with Kennedy and I today? Just the six of us?” I asked while biting my lip. I hope the answer was yes.
“Yeah sure! Where do you want to go and meet?” he asked while making shuffling noises in the background.
“Um, why don't we stick to your hotel’s region, and in about half an hour?”
“Awesome. See you there.”
“Bye.” I clicked the phone off and began pulling on my warm spandex. Then, I french braided my hair and pulled on my skiing outfit. Luckily, Kennedy was already waiting for me at the door when I exited my bedroom and had notified my coach and our parents of our absence.
“Have fun! Be back before nightfall, please,” My mom cooed as we walked out the door. Kennedy and I waved to her in response and tore down the stairs to our lockers where our skis were held. We grabbed our separate ones and quickly skied off to the lift that would bring us to the connecting trails. Kennedy and I took our time since we had half an hour to get there. We skied a couple of easy trails before meeting up with the four boys at the bottom of the hill, near their hotel.
“We thought you weren't gonna show for a couple of moments,” Michael joked as we skidded to a stop, effectively snowing them. They gave us fake glares while brushing themselves off while Kennedy and I gave each other high-fives.
“We meant to ditch you, but this was the only near by lift, so I guess we’re stuck with you,” Kennedy sighed dramatically before cracking a smile at her favourite band.
“Harsh,” Ashton gasped while placing a hand over his heart and winking in my direction.
“Alright losers, lets get going,” I sighed while skating over to the two person chair lift. Ashton hurriedly followed to get on with me, and the others trailing behind.
“Hi,” Ashton breathed after catching up with me and lowering the restraint bar on our chair.
“Hey,” I smiled back at him.

“We for sure need some one on one time, Ken,” I sighed while wrapping an arm around my little sisters shoulders. She nodded her head and we took a seat on my bed.
“Skiing was fun,” Kennedy broke the silence with a smile. I nodded my head in agreement, thinking back to what happened a couple of hours ago.
We ended up skiing down many runs and swapped partners on the chairlift, much to mine and Ashton’s complaints. Luke had fallen down a couple times making us all laugh, and we even managed to find a small race course to go through. Of course, I went first and blew through it, and then Kennedy went, followed by Ashton, Calum, Michael, and finally Luke. He was kind of scared the whole time; poor boy.
I sipped on my hot chocolate and crossed my legs, “I haven't even been able to talk to you about this, Kennedy. I’m the worst sister ever. I should have been able to help you through things. I’m so sorry, Kenny.”
