Chapter 5 [edited]

I let out little giggle as I helped Ashton tie his skates.
“Why did you even suggest skating if you’ve never done it before?” I asked while tying the long left over laces around the top of the skate into a neat bow.
“I don’t know! I thought it would be nice, and I want to learn how. Teach me?” he asked while pouting his bottom lip. Grinning, I helped him up off the bench. He wobbled on the skates and we stepped on the empty rink. Everyone was either on the hill or watching the Olympics.
Ashton gripped the railing in fear while taking hesitant steps over the ice.
“Don’t step or else you’ll fall. Glide,” I explained while skating away from him.
“Don’t leave me!” he cried while following my words. I laughed and pushed myself harder, making crossovers as I reached the ending so I would make a fast turn and not run into the boards.
As I approached Ashton again, I spun so I could skate backwards and slowed down. He had barley made it to the end of the rink. “Don’t laugh!” He cried as a giggle escaped my mouth. Sighing, I roughly yanked his hands off the rail (only because his hands were clenched around it so tightly) and pulled him towards me. He let out a little unmanly shriek but tried to cover it up with a cough, which didn’t work.
“That was cute,” I grinned at him, earning a glare.
“Shove off,” he grumbled while starting to skate.
“There you go!” I exclaimed as Ashton finally made his first lap around the rink on his own.
“I’m doing it!” he shouted in joy while pumping his fist in the air. What he didn’t realize as he did that was how unbalanced that would make him. I watched in horror as he toppled over and landed painfully on his back.
“Ashton!” I gasped while speed skating over to him. He groaned in pain as I reached him and helped him up.
“I think it’s time for a break,” he suggested as I finished wiping all the ice and snow off him.
“I really am sorry, Sophia,” Ashton said with sincerity. I gave him a small smile, “You can call me Sophie if you want.”
Ashton nodded his head and I brushed some of my blonde hair out of my face while licking my plum, chapped lips.
“I just didn’t want to lose my only friends,” I explained after we sat in silence for a bit.
“Your only friends? You mean, you don’t have any at home?” Ashton asked in shock. I shook my head and let out a small laugh, “And now my only friends live on the other side of the world. Lovely,” I sighed.
“We can still Skype and text—speaking of which, give me your phone so we can text now,” Ashton grinned.
“What, you’re not scared that I’ll sell it to some of your fan-girls?” I grinned while typing my number into his phone.
He was silent for a moment, “I trust you,” he confessed.
“After only knowing me for four days?” I asked in confusion. I thought that you had to know someone for like, years, before trusting them.
“You’re different. You’re so innocent, like a baby puppy,” he laughed while handing my phone back.
“A puppy? Really? Of all things to compare me to, you pick a puppy?” I laughed at his simile. He showed me his bright and capturing smile and I felt my stomach flutter. This must be how his fans felt on a daily basis. How do they survive?
