Papyrus p.o.v

It's been three weeks. Carson has been avoiding me lately and I don't know why. They aren't talking to Sans or I and just go straight to their room once they get back from wherever they run off to each night. I'm starting to think it's my fault their doing this but I don't know what I did to make them upset. It kind of scares me, especially that look of concern they always give me. I can tell they're trying to hide it, but I know they'll just break down if they don't let it out. After all, they're a lot like Sans in that way. I've tried talking to them but they won't answer. The only time they do talk to me is when Sans or I get injured. They seem to jolt and grow a mix of pain and anger on their face. But as son as they know for sure that we're okay, they just leave without a trace. That's what worries me the most. They also have mysterious phone calls every once and a while that often ends in yelling and someone hanging up out of rage, mostly Carson. I asked Sans but he doesn't know why either. I really hope they're alright. A few days ago they pulled out the grand piano Sans use to play before he got to lazy and decided to leave it in the basement. They hadn't used it until I heard faint music while I was in the dining room.

It was a nice song, a mix of calm and sadness that flew through the downstairs rooms of the house, I couldn't help but peak inside to see what was happening. Though I thought it was Sans at first I saw Carson sitting there, her eyes closed and her breathing deep, so I kept quiet and continued to listen. She seemed to move slowly as they played, her fingers sliding across the keys like they knew the song by heart. It did remind me of the times we spent working with Asgore. The room quiet yet loud at the same time, when Sans would start playing and everyone stopped what they were doing to listen. His playing always seemed to calm everyone during those tough times. That is...until we split up. Undyne and Alphys were the first to go. They said they had business else where and couldn't stay a part of the group any longer. Though we were all upset, Asgore seemed to understand. After that, Toriel decided the same, she had given Asgore a chance when we left the underground, but soon decided she didn't want that kind of a relationship with him and went on her way. Though, unlike most of us, she quit the Mafia business as soon as she left and got a new job that she refuses to say. Soon others started leaving, including Sans and I. Leaving around half of the monsters with Asgore while some made smaller groups, and some stopped entirely. After that Sans stopped playing the piano and we had it in the basement ever since. It felt good to see it again, though I hoped it didn't bring back bad memories to Sans. It also felt nice to hear the music again, filling the large, empty house with sound that we had trouble replacing. Carson stopped playing the song and looked at me. "Are you just going to keep staring? Or are you going to say something?" I turned a little orange and I could see a smile slightly tugging at the side of her mouth. "SORRY, I JUST...I LIKED THE SONG AND...I APOLOGIZE IF I'M MAKING YOU UNCOMFORTABLE..." She froze, then shrugged. "I'm not that great, but do you have a suggestion?" I beamed and walked over, taking a seat on one of the chairs. "Could you play Dream?" She looked up confused, then smiled a little. "Sure."

She played the song perfectly, just like Sans always did. I couldn't help smiling and the beautiful song as she blushed a little but continued to play. Then she asked me something as her hands continued to sway left and right with ease. "Papyrus? Can I ask you something?" I nodded. "If I ever did something terrible to you or your brother..." She paused, then looked at me. Her eyes tearing up. "Would you hate me?" I jolted up, realizing what my words at the party did to her. "NO! OF COURSE NOT! I DIDN'T MEAN-" She laughed a little then sighed as I sat back down. "I always loved this song..." She said quietly, her eyes watering. "Papyrus, i'm not sure how or when, but someday I might hurt you both for a purpose I now regret. But can you promise me something?" I nodded again. "OF COURSE." She didn't look up. "Promise me you'll do whatever it takes to stop me, please..." I knew what she was implying, but I tried to reassure her that things would work out and she didn't have to worry. "I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU WOULD EVER DO ANYTHING TO HURT US, AND I DOUBT YOU WOULD, BUT IF IT DOES COME TO THAT I'LL TALK YOU OUT OF IT. IT WON'T COME TO THAT." She didn't look assured, bu said one more thing before ending the song and going up stairs, one last promise she asked of me that I would never go back on. 'Promise you won't forget me.' That was something that would never happen, I just wouldn't let it.
