"We've got to go. Now," John says.
"Lucas!" Lina exclaims. Her face has gone pale and she's gripping tightly to Nine's left arm. "We're running out of time!"
"But we're not ready!" Razo protests, nervously.
"We'll have to be," Six says strongly. "This is the end."
"She's right, isn't she, Ella?" John asks.
I nod. I had decided not to tell anyone about it, and I don't know if I ever will. I knew that Five was going to die. Or I at least suspected it would happen. When I see into the future, I can't tell exactly what will happen, --things always change that affect the future-- but I saw Five dying in all of the outcomes. That had been what Legacy had meant to take in return for Eight's death. We had felt like we had reversed Eight's death and got back to the way we started, but now we were back to the same situation: one of us dead.
"John, are you sure about this?" Marina asks him, under her breath, quiet enough that only the few of us sitting with him can hear.
"It's time," I say. "But Legacy will be there to help."
"Did Legacy tell you that?" Marina asks.
Honestly, my contact with Legacy has been limited lately. I used to be able to feel the entity in me, and it made it much easier to look into the future. Ever since the last telopathic meeting, I've felt that my direct contact with Legacy has started fading. I guess Legacy has decided that we don't need his direct help, at least not through me.
"No. But I don't think Legacy will let us get crushed by the Mogs," I reply.
The Human-Garde might not know Legacy that well, but after seeing all of the spirit of Lorien spread out throughout the Earth, I know that Legacy is everywhere and Legacy brings hope.
"Are you sure we're ready for this?" Audrey asks. "I haven't even had time to formulate attack strategies with my group."
"When you get out on the battlefield, strategies can fall apart," John says. "If you know how to control your Legacies and weapons, and trust your team, we can win. You just have to have faith."
"Faith, trust, and pixie dust!" Kate says energetically. "But since we don't have pixie dust, faith, trust, and super-alien-superpowers will have to suffice.
"Do you guys have weapons?" asks a British boy. I remember him from earlier, but I never learned his name. He's almost as short as I am, but he carries himself with confidence. I should do that. "The only Legacy I have besides telekinesis is the ability to change the temperature, and that doesn't help much in a fight against a bloody evil alien."
"Umm, yeah. We have weapons on the ship," John replies. He scratches his head. "Hey, Six, Eight, Nine, and Sam, will you help me get them?"
Without hesitation, the leap out of their seats and rush out the door. Apparently, they weren't too keen on sitting around with a bunch of panicking teens.
"We're going to die!"
"I'm not ready! I thought we would have more time to train!"
"I haven't even gotten time to say goodbye over the phone!"
The Human-Garde's concerns ring out across the room. I try to remember what Phiri said. How she survived is alluding me. Nine said he killed her, good and hard. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mogs have some new tech, and it will make winning a lot harder. They seem to be focusing less on attacking and more on improving themselves, power and defense wise. Who did they have? Lina's brother. Right. I look for Lina and see her fly up to the balcony on the second floor, her dark braids gone and dark hair flying everywhere. I walk below her and call up to her.
